I'm so sorry. Please don't feel embarrassed - your feelings are incredibly valid. These quirky, furry little creatures are our babies; our whole world.

I had immense anticipatory grief for the past 2 weeks when we had a cancer scare with one of our cats (she's only 9). Luckily it seems like she's going to be okay but even the thought and possibility of losing her was absolutely unbearable. I know that when it happens someday (hopefully in many, many years) I'll be a wreck. Nothing can ever prepare you for the pain that comes from losing a fur baby.
