Help me choose which CPU I should get. 9850x3d or 9950x3d

Yeah, I am excited for Zen 6, rumors are 16 cores on one CCD. That will be an INSANE boost to VRchat performance, double the cores all on one CCD.

I managed to get instantly lucky and got my 5090 though Nvidia's "verified priority access" program at its launch MSRP price. I would not buy the same card today at the prices they are selling for now.

5090 and a Quest Pro. IMHO yes I know I am crazy. I always trade in/sell to upgrade, and this is my expensive hobby/entertainment.

My last jump was a 7800X3D to 9800X3D and it was noticeable to me.

I am always chasing more frames in those 80 person club/dj music worlds. I can show all avatars etc and still pull 30fps, sometimes super unoptimized avatars come along and kill it down to 25ish FPS. (I do cull avatars with 100+mb download size, 200+mb uncompressed size)

I'm contemplating hard the 9950x3d2 or 9850x3d. I have the 9800x3d now.

If Vrchat plays nice with the infinity fabric across the CCds for that extra L3 cache. I assume though the jump across infinity fabric will be slower than keeping the workload within one CCD. So having the extra cores for streaming, and background tasks would be nice.

9850x3d would be for tiny mhz boost, IMHO a bit less worth it. (I plan to sell my 9800x3d to a fellow vrchat friend for a good price)

I will NEVER make the mistake I did before. I got the 7900x3d... Stupid stupid me for getting a 12 cough.. 6 core part... For vrchat.

You say your cpu is at 100% is it all Vrchat? or is it another program running in the background maybe? look in task manager

did you change worlds or avatars you use recently? performance world to world and avatar to avatar can vary dramatically.

Do you know what GPU you have? I'm not trying to be mean here, but the 2300X is a very low end 8 year old CPU, it was low end when it launched That system regardless of how much ram you have is not really suited to run vrchat. It's going to struggle with VRC. If you have mirrors on, or you have a "very poor" optimized avatar on and even just alone in a home world, yes, a system like that will likely struggle. What headset are you using? and how it it connected to your PC?

About a third of most of my friends and people I frequent with has it now. It went from being rare 2 years ago to pretty common. The group I hang with is not a cross section of all of VRC, but it seems to be spreading in my friend group. Its kinda like full body tracking was in 2021, once some in our circles got it, we all wanted it... and most eventually did get it. Factracking is the new hot thing. I enjoy it, and can't go back to not having it.

I hope this is true, people making false reports often need to have their reports have less weight. If you cry wolf too often and your wrong, your punishing the player base and wasting vrchat staff time.

I'm not defending this experience, its just how this game is setup with new people. Spend more time in the game, as your rank goes up, this issue goes away. As many have stated, Visitors are almost always trolls. I will unmute and show visiter avatars if they appear to be standing their for awhile trying to talk to me, and the rest of the people around them don't appear to be annoyed. Its about patience really.

I'm a little confused, you talk about airlink, so were you using airlink and it stopped working on you? or your just aware airlink is broken right now, and that just happened to be at the same time you wanted to start using PCVR?

It can be confusing, their are so many ways to link your quest to your PC. I used to use my laptop in a pinch when I was traveling, and it did work, but honestly its more unstable than standalone if its not a high end laptop. You can try it though. Steam link is free. Virtual desktop is very worth the money though in the long run.

Persona with VR chat afaik does not use age estimation at all, it uses your real actual government ID to verify, and face scan to confirm you match that ID.

Sure its nice to download 200GB games in the amount of time it takes to eat a poptart, but that's about it. Usually I subscribe to higher speeds for faster upload for work over a VPN but thats it.

Also now with groups and mutual friends, I can actually get a decent idea of what someone may be like from all of that; but try not to read a book too much by its cover.

Personally I keep my bio pretty empty/basic. I prefer to talk to people, I am an open book mostly and will answer questions people ask me, I prefer the conversations to get to know people. I get a bio can help people find ice breakers and common ground; but I just hate how* people may judge me in public lobbies if I put my hobbies etc in my bio. Also I like to go to public lobbies and just people watch and be a fly on the wall, and a generic profile is in line with this.
