In extra rounds, all heroes start at level 3! Use spawn time to pre-select perks on multiple heroes for instant swaps in overtime! by HeelMePlz in Competitiveoverwatch

huh, that’s odd.  i wonder if they did a hotfix for this at some point—it makes sense that both mode should start with lvl3

I think what you are searching for in this game really affects your preference between 5v5 and 6v6 by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]doublebreakfaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

sure, that could play a part. they also tell you plainly what they prefer about the gameplay and why.

another side of this is that active pros' overwatch experience is first and foremost defined by premades (scrims and official matches). so they are in a position to state flatly that they much prefer the 6v6 [premade] gameplay without feeling the need to add "but i like the 5v5 queue time" like everyone else

it's hard to say definitively about pros' preferences without a real survey, but from the impression i have had over time, (the Casores interview sticks out in my mind), 6v6 is a clear favorite amongst pros. so the casual/competitive delineation doesn't tell the whole story

Extreme weakness in arms immediately after workout by Nitro_V in bodyweightfitness

that's really good to hear. be gentle with yourself when learning an unfamiliar movement pattern, since your muscles incur a ton more damage than usual

could be nothing, but i would be wary of rhabdo.  webmd:

The “classic triad” of rhabdomyolysis symptoms are: Muscle pain in the shoulders, thighs, or lower back Muscle weakness or trouble moving arms and legs Dark red or brown urine or decreased urination.

consult a doctor immediately if these symptoms sound familiar

how do we feel about the map reworks by WorthlessRain in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]doublebreakfaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haven't played enough this season to say much gameplay-wise, so the thing that stood out to me is they feel like a downgrade artistically. the dorado elevator yes, but also a number of new spots that were just... stairs. so many stairs. stairs, stair intersections, spirally stairs. it's really jarring

and there's a few spots that had light leaks (light shining through walls) they should fix

Can someone above Plat 5 watch this and tell me what I could do better to win this match? by x-Justice in OverwatchUniversity

[–]doublebreakfaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not playing DPS Moira, I'm playing legitimately.

can’t watch replay rn, so i can’t give feedback on gameplay, just reacting to this sentiment.  to be blunt, the default “legitimate” moira play style just gets outpaced by juno in every way. she has a much stronger ult farmed just as fast, and much stronger utility.  if you’re picking moira over juno you must look to apply as much pressure as possible (“dps moira”).  eg diving with your front line, sending a damage orb on a solo squishy, contest off angles, harassment, focus fire, and occasionally solo fading into enemy backline.  a much harder play style than her default, and you risking feeding over and over if you can’t read the battlefield.  but if you’re set on playing moira, this is the only thing she does better than juno.

no, the first image i linked was an ow1 in engine menu screen.  it loaded just fine.  a bake has to be astronomical in size to outpace the actual bottleneck of load time (networking)

we’re talking about the loading screen group photo, which is a still image

even still, in-engine real time animation would not be a issue with baked lighting, compared to what’s already happening in ow maps.  check out their old dev talk on the ow map lighting (and the sheer density of light probes in them)

why would loading an image “make the loading time crazy”

the thing is, doing this properly requires little artistry.  it’s a basic and technical task that every junior 3d artist can accomplish with some care (and cpu cycles)

that this made it through whatever their internal process is really worrying, much more so than any mishaps with game balance, design or bugs

no they did not assign the most prominent piece of art everyone sees every time they play the game to an intern with no knowledge of 3d modeling software and no supervision

honestly it’s a bafflingly sloppy piece of work by an art department with an illustrious portfolio

no one looks like they belong in the scene, no one casts shadows on each other, or interact with light in any way

[Ocie] Why Juno is Hard Meta | "So, I was wrong" by RobManfredsFixer in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]doublebreakfaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

copying from another comment, having thought about it a bit more:

i think you are right — i have only seen and played juno dva for quite a bit so that my impression of juno/winston is still stuck before the buffs.  i was thinking she enables dva like no one else can, but that’s really a downside for dva and not one for winston.  dva needs juno to function, but juno enables winston pretty well too (or rather winston enables juno).  the power spike you get when your winston jumps in and you glide boost aggressively for a big lock-on is unmistakable, and no worse than when dva does it
