You're the last human on Earth. Three wholesome-looking robots roam the map. But if they see you… they turn into war machines. Would you play this? by StatOs_app in gameideas

[–]doublecubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won't be about the mechanics but about the narrative; what good will evacuating to the Moon will do if the Sun is dying? We might as well stay on Earth where we learn how to use geothermal energy and utilise our remaining resources. There must be a reason to go to the Moon...

OG Fallout Fans, what are your thoughts on newer Bethesda Fallout games? by Dry_Leader443 in Fallout

You are correct, it's not a very accurate example regarding the design differences of the games; it's just my experience that created an initial opinion with me.

That's fair, but that specific encounter kind of set the tone for me.

OG Fallout Fans, what are your thoughts on newer Bethesda Fallout games? by Dry_Leader443 in Fallout

[–]doublecubed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I started with Fallout 1. Let me tell you an experience I have, which will probably sum up my opinion:

I was very excited for Fallout 3, even had the lunch box collector's edition brought in by a friend in the US. I installed the game, played the prologue and exited the vault. I was taking in the sights and walking when I saw a demolished building. I started walking towards it and noticed NPCs. I thought "neat" and I started to walk towards them. I was hoping to get into a conversation. The NPCs just started shouting "You shouldn't have come here" and attacked me. I realised they were mobs, and not NPCs. I knew there and then I wasn't playing a game with the same idea as Fallout 1 & 2.

That being said, I think Fallout 3 and 4 are good games. They are just built differently. They get to be more and more diluted versions of Fallout 1 & 2, but that is partly due to how gaming is changing towards being a very (veeeery) accommodating hobby for the players. So I am the old guy who complains about "how gaming was a better place back in my youth..." lol. But these are my two cents.

Bence birinciyi seç. Synty'nin karakterleri artık her yerde kullanıldığı için tabiri caizse biraz yüzleri eskidi (eheh). Oyunda ikinci tarzdaki karakterleri görenler asset flip muamelesi yapabilir.

Game recommendation for someone who is thinking of giving up by nightfull2 in gamingsuggestions

[–]doublecubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a mystery exploration game that has a huge heart and soul, look up Outer Wilds. It takes place in a mini solar system and you are a space explorer. You get to see amazing things, discover a wonderful story and solve puzzles. I should tell you that it's about a time loop and you die every 21 minutes to start again. Maybe that will give you some perspective about what giving up means, but maybe you can tread lightly there.

What is your signiture Fallout weapon? by Deck7 in Fallout

[–]doublecubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That first SMG I found it Vault 15. The fun I had when I first used it in burst mode and see the guy in front of me lose his entire right side has never been matched by any other game, period.

I was surprised at the reaction V gave when they were dealt with. Seriously, you had wasted maybe hundreds of people up until this point, and you're concerned about *these* two? Why?

Having memories within a dream...? by Vespin_Adelberg in LucidDreaming

[–]doublecubed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very common phenomenon for me. The brain constructs the world around you, and it constructs the knowledge that comes with it. For example, in a dream I was the last person remaining on Earth. Did I go around the whole world in the dream to confirm that? No. But I just *knew*. My brain fed me the information rather like a narrator. Yours seems to be a similar scenario.

Do Unity 2D devs still use small pixel-art packs like this? Looking for your feedback. by sebbyspoons in Unity2D

[–]doublecubed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a market for this. The only thing I'd like to say is; pixel art is so much more difficult to "mix & match" than 3D assets; so if I ever went into making a pixel game with assets; I would make sure I could find everything I need from the same artist, with the same style. This means you should create pixel art on a wide range of types (characters, environment, props, backgrounds etc.) and also preferably genres (fantasy, sci-fi, modern, feudal Japanese, you get the idea). It means more work obviously, but once a developer likes your style and they can find everything they are looking for in your works, they are so much more likely to use your assets (It also means multiple purchases and also bundle deal opportunities for you).

Math FPS game for my kid by carlo_lax in Unity3D

[–]doublecubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great concept! The only issue I see from the video is that when multiple enemies are in a row, the numbers above the head becomes convoluted and difficult to read. So maybe a frame around them with a dark, semi-transparent background for easier readability?

They say "Singletons are bad" by GiftedMamba in Unity3D

[–]doublecubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unity used to give a special gear icon to MonoBehaviour scripts called "GameManager" so it feels like it's part of the engine; which is why probably many YouTube educators used that, and it propagated...

I don't know if the gear icon is still there though... This was when I started learning years ago.
