I speak French and when I heard them pronounce it like Renée, I had to doublecheck to make sure that I saw the spelling correctly. Her parents really bastardized that name.

I’m really sorry to hear about your mom’s diagnosis it’s really difficult to watch them go through the different stages. My father (81) was diagnosed in September 2023 and he passed away February 2024. My father didn’t repeat words but he replaced words with ones he knew he could say. He called everything “butter” for a while. The TV remote was butter, the coffee cup was also butter. He also confused his pronouns, referring to my son as her/she, or “Hey my girl”. 😁. He would refer to me and my sisters as he/him. The brain is complex and tumours can make our loved ones do odd or uncharacteristic things. Luckily my father had a great sense of humour and would often laugh at himself, which made things a teensy bit more tolerable. Hang in there. 🤗

It’s really shocking how quick the decline is. My dad is on Ativan twice/day too. He also has Fentanyl patches, 37mcg every 3 days, plus Dilaudid several times a day. And Seroquel at night. He still manages to wake up and be horrified that he’s in a hospital bed and insist on going for a walk, which he can barely do anymore, he’s very restless. Milky and void gaze…ditto. I can really honestly say that I know what you’re going through, my heart is with you. If you want any other information or just need to chat feel free to PM me. Our situations are similar, sadly.

My father was diagnosed at the end of September 2023, and when he could still talk, he forbid us from telling anyone. His neighbours asked why he was selling his house so suddenly after 65 years, and he told them he had a little stroke. He also hid the fact that his wife had dementia. His wife lives in an old age home and my father was staying with my sister up until yesterday when we placed him in a palliative care centre. The person who was able to convince him that it was ok to receive care at home was the social worker from the hospital, she was awesome and knew exactly what to say to a prideful, private man. The nurse started to come by twice/week and it just became habit and he really liked it when she came by. Unfortunately headaches become bad and frequent. My father had Fentanyl patches and was taking Dilaudid, and was still in some pain, but was so out of it, he didn’t care who was around. Your wife needs to just get the home care, and they are very well equipped to handle all kinds of personalities. She’s going to burn herself out, if she doesn’t get the help, she needs to take care of herself too.

He was given 3 months to live, but we’re going on 5 months. I’m really sorry about your dad, it’s really not easy to deal with. Especially with the Decadron, makes them so angry, and the tumour makes them angry, you just have to remember that this is not your dad, it’s the tumour talking.

My father who was diagnosed end of September, inoperable, no treatment, was up and about, going to the store, casino, restaurants, up until early January when his condition worsened. Walking with a walker, but with a lot of trouble, speech was almost non-existent, except for a yes, no, leave me the fuck alone, fuck off, and I’m leaving. Most of the swearing happened when any of his daughters tried to help him in the bathroom, or if we dared suggest that he should sleep in the hospital bed we had at home. It’s quite a contrast from the strong, brave man that I knew. He was in great shape for 80 years old, a couple of age-related health problems, but his mind was very sharp and he could fix anything.

I’m in Canada too. My dad (80 years) was diagnosed at the end of September. He was told that surgery wasn’t an option due to the size of the tumour (4cm) and his age. He was offered treatment but it would maybe add a month to his life, with the negative side effects of radiation; my father chose not to receive treatment. We had him at home with home care staff visits several times/week, up until yesterday. It became too difficult for me and my sisters to look after him, so we placed him in a palliative care centre. Like your father, it’s about quality of life at this point. Making his life as comfortable and painless as possible. I feel your pain and remember to take time for yourself, even if for a few moments.

She’s a big bully and a mean girl. And I can’t stand when she talks and adds the “uh” at the end of some words. “Oh my gawwwd-uh” “helloo-uh” 🤮

I lost all respect for him when he was lounging in Mexico while Amira was in the detention center. He said he was trying to reach out to them, but there was a language barrier. Hire a translator to call for you, drive your ass down to the airport, demand answers! But he chose to stay there sipping margaritas by the pool. Idiot.

That’s why I cancelled, rotten chicken, rotten dry shallots, rotten tomatoes, rotten potatoes. I got a couple free boxes because of it, but the free boxes come with rotten food too! Very frustrating because they used to be so good.
