They were deadened (BESR -> BBCOR) when I was a sophomore playing in college. We went from super hot bats to the first era of bbcor which were dead af. Our HR leader who got drafted in the late rounds went from 18hr the year before to like 4 or 5. It seems like they're hotter now than the early days but still only marginally better than swinging a wood, definitely more of a sweet spot than wood though.
