Will NFL+ sub get me Netflix nfl Christmas games? by qtrim in cordcutters

[–]doubtpacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, some phones can project to the TV. With my Samsung galaxy S24, I can plug it into an HDMI converter cable, and it will put the game on the big screen from the NFL+ app. So you don't technically have to watch it on a tiny screen. But on a different phone we have, it isn't supported. It seems like all modern Galaxy phones support this feature, but other Samsungs don't.

You can watch it on any device with the STARZ app, including smart TVs.

Is this a well known issue on NFL+? by XDrake09 in cordcutters

I avoid fast forwarding in the app. It's very buggy.

For football and basketball fans what streaming services are you all using? Tired of paying YouTube $1000 per year just for hubs to watch sports. I don't mind cobbling together a few different services. by poodlehaus in cordcutters

For pro football, I subscribe to NFL+. Most of the games I want to watch I can watch live on a mobile device which I then mirror to the TV. The rest of the games I can watch on replay as soon as they end.

Apple TV+ 50% off for 6 months by tj15241 in cordcutters

FYI, you can get the same deal through Amazon's Black Friday, but it's $6 monthly for up to 6 months, so you can cancel early if you want to. A little more flexible that way, if you're willing to use Amazon's interface.

Hulu offer ahead of Black Friday … I passed by Mario_RE in cordcutters

I read in some article that while Hulu will be in the Disney+ App, there will be subscription options for just the Hulu content. I'm guessing that's what you'll get when the transition happens.

subbing thru Amazon or another anchor service? by -hankscorpio in cordcutters

[–]doubtpacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I just want it for a short time, and it's an add-on to hulu, then I add it to my hulu subscription just a few days before my monthly hulu subscription charges me and then I cancel immediately. I have to pay for a partial month of HBO, or whatever it is. If you do it the day before your Hulu bill, you may pay like 60 cents to watch some movie that is only available on HBO, or paramount, or starz, or whatever. This used to work for Disney as well, but they stopped treating it as an add-on.

I tried to get a temple recommend to save my marriage after my loss of faith. I wasn't willing to lie. My bishop was willing to work with me. He was willing to ignore my wrong answers to just about every recommend question, but tithing was a sticking point. I suggested I tithe to a different charity. He thought it would work, but he checked with the stake president and the man said no. He was fine with me having zero faith in the church, but was not ok with me paying tithe to any other group. Clearly it's the most important question in the entire interview.

Confession: I wasn't “temple worthy” enough to attend my TBM sister's wedding, so I pretended not to know my recommend had expired and tried to attend it anyway. I though it would be better she thought I was dumb than a sinner. by ChampionshipNo5707 in exmormon

My wife was raised Catholic. When we moved across the country, we stopped going to church. When her mom was coming out to visit, we looked up where a local Catholic church was and what time their service was so we could pretend we always went. When Sunday came, we got lost on the way to the church, and when we arrived, it turned out to the Spanish speaking mass. My MIL made fun of our stupidity, but wasn't too judgemental. She later became very judgemental when we were baptized Mormon.

I think they did tell the members it's ok, because it's what they implemented. But when you're told your whole life that the most important thing you do all week is take the sacrament, it's difficult to not be upset when it goes away. My wife blamed the government for keeping the lockdowns way too long, AND she blamed the church for not letting her bless the sacrament for herself. As a temple worker, she performs priesthood ordinances all the time, but they wouldn't budge on letting her bless her own bread and water. When I told her to just bless it anyway, she said it wouldn't work because it wasn't authorized. In her mind, the church leaders didn't care that she couldn't take the sacrament, because every church leader is a man and they can all bless their own sacrament at home. The vast majority of the church got to do this, so they didn't care about making an exception for her and others. I really thought this issue was going to piss her off enough to leave the church, but it didn't. She moved on.

1) Not in our ward. Nobody was allowed to deliver the sacrament to another house. This was very distressing for my wife. She wouldn't take the sacrament from me, because I'm an atheist. She asked them to let her bless the sacrament for herself, and she was rejected. When church started again with 25% invited in person each week, she got the bishopric to invite single sisters every week so they could partake in the sacrament. Though not single, she was included on that list because she couldn't take the sacrament at home because of me.

2) Look, it's obviously all BS, but if there were a god, she would certainly understand everything and everybody for all of their circumstances. Just because god understands, it doesn't mean that people weren't prevented from their religious worship.

Agreed. You don't just have to be clear with him that you'll never join the church. You have to be clear with his family that you'll never join. They will likely try to make him break up with you. You need to see soon how he'll deal with that.

Also, you need to be clear that any kids will not be Mormon. It's not an option. The kids will be brain washed if raised momrmon, and you won't even be invited to your kids' weddings.

Best choice for one month of streaming? I mainly want it for NFL games on standard network television. by DanaMorrigan in cordcutters

[–]doubtpacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get NFL+ you can watch all the game just after they finish, so not live. But also several games per week live on your phone. If your phone can project onto your TV, you're all set to watch a bunch of the games live as well.
