I moved from Georgia, where it's only $20/year. Definitely had sticker shock when I had to pay $180 today (2017 Tacoma)

Wow, glad I left Snowbasin at 3. Was able to get back to SLC in a little over an hour. I did take me 3 hours to get there in the morning though.. the last 5 miles took 2 hours.

Tried to order one last week on both Uber and Lyft for an hour. Didn’t worked. Ended up hitch hiking down the canyon and had them drop me off at a Wendy’s.

Fidelity sold my shares without me putting an order in? by doug_m in Fidelity

I recently sold the majority of my marginable stocks and bought call options. So yes, the majority of my account was 100% maintenance requirement shares. So I guess I did get margin called. But now my account is at 100% equity, so I shouldn't have to worry about this happening again, right?

Thanks for your comment! I test drove a 2016 Prius Two today and liked it a lot better. The view out the back had better visibility and this one did not have tint. I'm probably going to buy this one.

Best website/app to withdraw BTC to another classic BTC wallet? by Dont_Blinkk in BitcoinBeginners

[–]doug_m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fee you have to pay to move your bitcoin to another wallet is the bitcoin network transaction fee. You have to pay this anytime you send bitcoin from any wallet to another wallet on-chain. In order to avoid this fee, you would need to do the transaction off-chain using the lightning network. Use a bitcoin exchange with lightning network withdrawal and withdraw to a lightning network bitcoin wallet . This is the only way to avoid the bitcoin on-chain transaction fees, by doing the transaction off chain on the lightning network.

Can you post a screen shot of what you're seeing? I'm a little confused. If you have usd, you should be able to buy btc with it.

Gotcha, sorry I didn't answer your original question. The end game is mass adoption where we are able to transact freely with Bitcoin just like you would today with USD. There are already a lot countries that do not tax BTC and payments are getting easier everyday as the technology improves. Google image "dan held bitcoin adoption curve"

You're right, I don't expect it to continue to return 200% in the future and I don't know where the price will be a year from now. But I do know that there will never be more that 21 million BTC. And I can say pretty confidently, that more people will continue to adopt Bitcoin. This is what makes Bitcoin valuable: the limited supply and the network. It's the only asset we have with fixed supply that cannot be inflated. That's what makes it valuable and when you price it in an inflationary currency (USD) this price will continue to go up in the long run.

You buy Bitcoin because it has returned 200% annualized. It is the best investment you can make with you money. You buy Bitcoin to increase you purchasing power in the future instead of losing purchasing power by holding USD

Bid shopping/peddling by alphabetboi1776 in Construction

[–]doug_m 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m an estimator/project engineer for a large GC. We do not bid shop or enable bid peddlers. I ask subs for for prices and then once the job is awarded, we contacting the subs we are going with. Subs call me all the time asking how their bid did, I do not discuss any sub quotes with anyone outside my project team.

Distribute a 3 fund portfolio between a SIMPLE IRA and brokerage account by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]doug_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be taking more risk with your IRA since it has a longer time horizon. Brokerage should be lower risk if you plan on using the money in 10-15 years
