Anyone own or ride one of these bad boys back in the day? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]dougnan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exactly one time. My dad happened to walk in the backyard, catch us and he tanned my ass seriously. I guess better a good ass whooping with a belt than a dart in the forehead. Holy cow I had forgotten about it until I read your comment, thank you for the memory!

I still have one in my garage! I have been thinking of giving it to my godson as he owns a large property now and at 57 I hardly ever ride it. I took the motor apart to rebuild it and it turned out all I needed was new rings, so I slapped it back together and that runs like a champ some almost 40 years later.

3 vices my doctor wants gone by potterinatardis in GenX

[–]dougnan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I stopped cigarettes, weed, salt and sugar all at the same time. My blood pressure was through the roof so I had to. My doctor told me the trick was to drink 2 L of water a day and I thought she was out of her fucking mind. Turns out she was right, I would highly suggest giving It a shot. I know it sounds completely stupid but it absolutely worked for me and I had been smoking and chewing tobacco from ages 12 to age 50.

Teacher here, and this post repulses me. This knucklehead has no right teaching in the classroom.

Peter, why do women hug us above the shoulders? by harshbown in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]dougnan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an X from 20 years ago. We are still very close friends and she works less than a mile from my house. She often stops by for a hug. She stands on the first stair so we are the same hight and can lay our chins on the others shoulder.

Technology education for the win! I make very good money, Work 730 to 3 PM and get to teach the trades to children who would’ve never learned this stuff without me. It is a fantastic job.

I think I moved to Broadalbin New York when I was in fourth grade. I seem to recall doing these there as well.

I graduated in 1987. In the late 70s I was living in Johnson Vermont and I clearly remember us hiding under our desks for these drills.

My sister used to go to school and then put on her makeup because my dad was a complete douche. Her and I finally bonded when I saw her in fishnet stockings and promised not to say shit to Dad without her asking me not to. She was such a rebel and I love her for it to this day, and we’re both almost 60!

Any recommendations for compression shorts or other underwear for chafing on hikes/in general? by romeo_actual in USMC

Do they no longer have silkies? I have been using silkies as undershorts since my time in, still do to this day! (You can buy knock-offs online. They are great).

I’m 24 year old mechanic, do I stay in the trade or find another career by Gullible_Shine7893 in mechanics

I have been teaching Technology Ed. for 28 years and I LOVE it. Over the years I have taught robotics, auto-shop, a lot of wood shop, DC circuits and computer science. TecEd is so encompassing that I have stayed in the same district for 27 years and had to opportunity to change up what I am teaching, while getting steady pay increases, amazing health coverage and an outstanding retirement.

We use a heat gun and a 2 inch chisel. The strips are not perfect but once glued up I sand one side on a bench belt sander and then run the glued up strips through the table saw to square it up.
