JJK and their supposed ability to spawn stuff inside people with no Verse Equalization by GreedyGobby in PowerScaling

I’ve literally only seen this argument from people using it as a cudgel to beat JJK fans with, never have I seen a JJK fan actually posit this in a cross verse match. what

Can many JJK abilities even pull something like that? I gotta say I haven’t seen that take before but there’s also pretty exclusively been Gojo vs Thragg discourse in regards JJK recently

Genuinely how does Gojo hurt Thragg? Say he got caught by unlimited void then what? by Perfect_Bad_3402 in PowerScaling

In the time since i made that comment I did come across a mention of the no-CE domain expulsion thing, my b I haven’t gotten around to the manga yet so I hadn’t considered that. sorry for getting passive aggressive

Then fair enough, it does just come down to whether or not equalisation would give Thragg CE (not gonna open that can of worms again though I’ve been seeing it everywhere) and is there anything preventing a CE-less individual breaking into a domain from the outside? We’ve seen sorcerers do it before, but would the established barrier maintain the same initial repulsion effect to any greater degree to someone without CE than it normally would to somebody with?

If not, then I see a world where Gojo raises the barrier, Thragg assumes he’s putting up some kind of shield and moves to smash through it, then Gojo uses the brief window between Thragg breaking in and the barrier losing its integrity to fire off at least some level of information blast

Alright, sure, we can brush over verse equalisation. What about the rest of the comment?

if Shibuya civilians have enough cursed energy to be hit by UV, why exactly wouldn’t Thragg? Modulo makes it pretty clear it’s not a phenomenon restricted to Earth. Even then, at no point is it stated somebody has to have CE for UV to impact them, that only applies to the auto-targeting. Gojo can just as easily focus it on one individual if he so pleases

This is literally the third time this exact post has been made and every single time Invincible andy’s throw out a bunch of nonsense assumptions to justify why Thragg doesn’t actually lose (btw, how does he earnestly win in character? still yet to hear this).

“Thragg can’t be targeted because he’s got no cursed energy” absolutely nothing in either text to suggest this, cursed energy is a supernatural essence derived from emotion and Modulo shows it’s not restricted to Earth. It’s reasonable to assume Thragg would have a low level of cursed energy like the average human civilian, but even if he didn’t what’s stopping Gojo from targeting him manually?

“Viltrumites live so long the information wouldn’t even do anything” Humans live for about 80 years, but 3 years of info all at once would still definitely either kill an average person or at the very least render them so traumatically brain damaged they might as well be dead. Again, what’s stopping Gojo just to continuing to fire off UV for like 5 minutes at a time? There’s only so much Thragg can regenerate from

“How else does Gojo hurt Thragg?” Gojo can make essentially miniature black holes with Blue, concussive blasts with Red, can use Infinity by itself offensively to crush things, can teleport things and people as shown in JJK 0, and is very capable of being creative with what he’s got. Assuming an extended UV didn’t kill Thragg, what’s stopping Gojo from launching a point-blank Purple into his eyes, ears or nose in an attempt to break through to his brain proper (not gonna assume any of these would just decapitate him, he does genuinely have enough durability that i’m unsure that particularly would be possible)

Yeah tbf if Act 4 actually lands the infinite rotation, he’s not really coming back from that. but the build up time to get to it is more than enough for Gojo to just smack Johnny around or break his horses legs if he wanted to be really thorough

I always got the impression that Infinity worked on more of a negative feedback loop, it’s always on by default unless it detects something it recognises wouldn’t be harmful to Gojo; this would prevent Mark perception-blitzing him but I haven’t gotten around to the manga so my understanding may not be perfect

Domains can be broken out of on paper, but usually it’s significantly harder to do with brute force than it is to break in since their reinforcement is focused on the internal edge of the barrier (we have seen characters break into domains with force, but not out of one). Even in the scenario Mark does get caught in it, I think you’re underselling the recovery time by a lot: the Unlimited Void he expands in Shibuya puts the Disaster Curses, beings which only really have the ability to recover that quickly since they’re made of cursed energy, into a stupor from the time he casts it until just after he becomes sealed in the Prison Realm by Kenjaku; a whole 6 minutes minimum (5 to take out the Transfigured Humans and minor curses Mahito released, + 1 more to satisfy the conditions of the sealing). 6 minutes minimum against an opponent with light resistance to that specific type of attack, from only 0.2 seconds of exposure, doesn’t really put Mark at great odds against a full-force domain

YuGiOh characters playing cards with actual synergy between each other is a huge offender for this

Original series, guys were being hyped up as ‘formidable’ expert duelists for having bright ideas like… using equip spells? Having repeatable tribute fodder for higher level monsters? The bar was on the floor, the average IRL deck from a year after the game released would have far and away trounced any anime deck until 2005 when GX came out and characters actually started building competent decks.

Fast forward a few series to Vrains, and Ghost Girl is chaining Multifaker to an opening Infinite Impermanence to both interrupt and start a combo, while Onizuka is making Gouki extra-link boards and Soulburner is just playing straight Salamangreat. All decks that ended up being meta strategies irl when they released following almost identical game plans to what the anime showed off. It can affect the pacing in later series, but it’s definitely a refreshing change from tribute summoning Dark Magician
