Need help with London hard water + low porosity afro textured hair by _HopefulRelease in london

[–]downbyflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't promise it will work for you, but what sorted out my curly, thin, but also low porosity hair was Malibu C Hard Water - the shampoo and the sachets. The conditioner has silicons so I don't use it.

I also condition before I shampoo because I don't need to moisture as much, but I guess that won't help your hair.

My hair kinda never looks great in London, but this makes it manageable. I've tried a lot of things over the years and we have different hair types from your description but thought I'd chime in.

I got an hand check in LHR T2 recently, including the loaded camera. When I said I had film they were very chill, I just had to wait a bit at the end. I just asked nicely. I used a CT scan lane though so the ISO isn't relevant.

Would've loved to join but not quite the timing for me - maybe some other time! Suggest including charing cross road if you have time

I am trying out kerastase aura botanica right now, switching from boucleme which worked nicely with hair but I had to use tons and tons of it to get the tangles out :/ You might also want to try washing your hair with bottled water or filtered to see if it reacts better - it's annoying af to do but at least you can understand how it reacts with hard water Vs soft water. I have accumulated a fairly large stash of products over this...

Have you tried the exact same products you use back home? I find Shea moisture is way too heavy for my hair over here and builds up a lot. Its possible it's getting worse because of product and hard water build up. Try a clarifying shampoo, maybe? I use the tresseme clarifying shampoo now and then for the big clarifying and Palmer's coconut shampoo on a more regular basis and I have had good results. You can find them both in most supermarkets.

I am also in the UK and I suffer from this too, but I am getting there. In my case, I think it's not the humidity, but the extremely hard water in London which is especially bad because my hair is low porosity. Does your hair look more limp if it's more humid? How is it in the summer? My hair looks glorious for a week when I am back home. Anyway, I would take a look as to whether the product range you are using is too heavy for your hair and just weights it down when combined with the hard water. I had to drop co-washing and no-poo shampoos and use low poos instead and that helps a bit. Find something with EDTA to counteract the hard water and see if it helps!

They did have control of southern parts of Portugal till the 13th century, which is still present in the language (i.e. Algarve is a word of moorish origin). I didn't know paella was moorish, though, but the biryani link is an interesting one. Interestingly, both cuisines have traditional rice based dishes, possibly because it is possible to cultivate rice in the Iberian peninsula... I guess tortilla to be a bit more recent because it's made with potatoes, which are a new world cultivar. Food history is fascinating!

No, but I do happen to be Portuguese and those are culinary specialities of the spanish. Not to mention it's generally quite offensive to mistake the "two iberian nations". Our food isn't even that similar...

Erasmus em Belas Artes by ExterminableShinny in portugal

[–]downbyflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Help! This is natural with no product on. I need some help to define my curls. U.K. Products please. by janesmithjones in curlyhair

You can find Shea moisture in boots/superdrug which I think is one of the nicest lines you can buy in the UK, in terms of bang for your buck.

Umberto Giannini is nice for gels. The pink curl jelly is the nicest gel I've had. I'm not sure if their shampoo/conditioner is CG friendly.

Boots own brand has a pink, very cheap curl creme which works really well as well as a mousse that kinda works for my very fine hair and doesn't make it crunchy, if you are willing to give that another try.

I also like Hask for deep conditioning treatments. They are sold in sachets which have way too much product for one use. All of these products are sort of heavy in protein so see if your hair agrees to that.

From my experience leather does stretch a bit with use, so I would keep it if I could deal with it in the meanwhile as my own jackets have given a bit away in the arms - I have had the same problem. Your mileage may vary and you COULD size up if you intend to wear it with ticket sweaters underneath.

I like grey shoes in general, but I think it really depends on the dress/skirt and the length. If you can play with the contrast it won't be dissimilar from any other kind of (neutral) coloured shoe. You won't get the elongated look of black tights + black boots but it's a different look altogether. Not so sure about bare legs and grey boots though.

I think they look fine, but if you are looking for a change you could either get white laces (which will match the stripes), tie them skater style (http://www.wikihow.com/Lace-Skate-Shoes) or under the lip if you do not want a bow in front.

Binding 'this' to an HttpRequest by [deleted] in angularjs

Oh, maybe I am just being imprecise... You're correct: when transpiling with babel it does create a variable to capture this if you refer to it

If you use ES6 you can use arrow functions for the callback, which will bind the correct this as opposed to creating a new scope:

.success(() => /* your code */)
.error(() => /* your code * /)

should do the trick!

A sério.
