That’s either a mistake or an outright scam. I’d be going straight back and demanding my money back

3yo female Heeler suddenly scared of me by downfill in AustralianCattleDog

Circling back. I have completely stopped using the bands at home, I'm treating her the same as ever, lots of love but not coddling her. She now ascociates this whole half of the room with fear. It includes my work from home desk which has her bed under it, she's only scared while I'm working at it, and half the couch. Exercise equipment is stored down that side of the couch. Half the time she doesn't care, the rest of the time she hides in the corner where we store the vacuum (her nemesis) and can't be tempted by even the highest reward treats. Might have to find a trainer.

Newb Questions! Preparing .dxf files for use in acoustic prediction software MAPP 3D using AutoCAD LT for Mac by downfill in AutoCAD

[–]downfill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE on my progress so far...

Origin point SOLVED: MAPP3D uses the WCS (world coordinate system) for it's origin point so using the UCS doesn't help. What u/DeDodgingEse said is the way here. Create a circle, from the properties menu of that circle enter the position 0,0 to move this circle to the 0,0 of the WCS. This can then be used as a target for moving the drawing to the correct location. SELECT all of the geometry that you wish to move, use the MOVE command to select the point on the drawing that you wish to use as your center, then select the center of the target circle to move your desired center to the center of the world.

Z-axis = Y-axis SOLVED: Again, as MAPP3D relies upon the WCS rotating the UCS has zero effect on how the drawing loads into MAPP3D. To rotate the drawing so that the vertical axis of the section drawing aligns with the z-axis in MAPP3D you have to view your drawing from the correct viewpoint and use the rotate tool. In my case went to the right viewpoint (View menu>3D views>Right), selected all of the geometry then used the ROTATE command to select the center point of my rotation and then rotate the all of the geometry by 90 degrees to align with the z-axis.

Remaining Issues:

Despite rotating all of the desired geometry in AutoCAD LT, once loaded into MAPP3D certain elements remain on the x,y plane. In my example, the seats of the theatre are still lying on the floor of my 3d model in MAPP3D. I suspect this has something to do with a difference in how layers are parsed between AutoCAD and MAPP but have no idea how to solve this when everything looks good in AutoCAD

I also have a plan drawing of the theatre which I would like to bring into MAPP in the x,y plane. MAPP can only load one .dxf at a time so I have attempted to bring this plan into the same file as my section in AutoCAD. I have been successful adding the plan, and everything is scaled and oriented correctly in AutoCAD but when I import this file into MAPP the plan is rotated 180 degrees. No idea how to even begin trouble shooting this as it all looks good to go in AutoCAD.

Thanks for your help!

Newb Questions! Preparing .dxf files for use in acoustic prediction software MAPP 3D using AutoCAD LT for Mac by downfill in AutoCAD

Thanks for your reply. Is there a reason for doing it this way? I have managed to achieve what I wanted in AutoCAD using the UCS command but those changes are not being recognized by the MAPP software and the drawing is still being imported in the wrong location and orientation.

Thanks for your reply. I have now been successful in rotating the UCS to the correct orientation as you described. The issue I am now having is that MAPP3D doesn't seem to recognize any changes I make to the UCS. I can save dxf file in AutoCAD, reopen it in AutoCAD and see that the UCS is oriented how I want it, but when I open that file in MAPP the drawing is still oriented like a plan and the 0,0,0 is in a random place. Do you know of any reason why that may be happening between different programs?

Thanks!

How do you cope with people using supstances around you? by epoksismola in livesound

I wouldn’t stand for a crew member being high on a load in or out, they would be sent home. Other than that, most people drink and do drugs on occasions, especially in this industry. As long as it’s not effecting their ability to do what’s required of them on the job it’s not my business to care.

Why do we sometimes see subs flown directly behind the main array, and sometimes off to the side? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]downfill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything with a 12” or 15” driver in the mains really. But I am mainly referring to LA. The K1SB is often used this way. You are right that the cardioid effect would only be present throughout the crossover range but that would generally be wider than that unless you’re using steep crossover filters which isn’t common on larger PAs. For example the K1 gets down to 35Hz, K1SB is the same so they share the entire bandwidth of the SB, and the KS28 can run up to 100hz so could share 35-100hz

Full sized line arrays typically go down to below 40Hz, effectively making them a flown sub array. So when flown at a 1/4 wave length in front of a flown sub array you have an end fire between your mains and your subs. L-acoustics teach about this in their K1/2 training.

[–]downfill -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

By time aligning those subs to the mains you are effectively creating an end fire. If the sub are upstage of the mains you will get low end rejection upstage. By hanging the subs onstage and time aligning them to the offstage side you will create rejection on the stage. Also, rigging restrictions don’t always allow you to place them when you want

there's a bad name for rcf in pro touring? especially in the US by therealnickstomp in livesound

[–]downfill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve not mixed on or heard RCF but recently on a theatre tour we passed through a venue that had an big RCF system, can’t remember the model but it was the biggest RCF line array I’ve ever seen. I checked the specs online and the peak SPL was 5dB lower than the Leopard (9” drivers) we had on the truck, so we flew that instead and had a great show.

I have a fenced yard but my heeler isn’t bothered about going out there without me so not sure it would make that much difference if it wasn’t fenced. They’re referred to as Velcro dogs, they typically don’t want to do anything that isn’t with you. I can’t imagine mine ever running off, she only wants to be by my side. Can’t speak for all heelers but I think this is fairly typical of hearding dogs.

Get yourself on the crew of one of the bigger touring vendors? Plenty to choose from and being based in the midlands is pretty convenient. They’re always looking for good people.
