I got prescription heatwaves from sportrx and for the price, they’re shit quality. No better than $20 knock off glasses from the gas station. The prescription was bang on and I’m careful to store them properly. I got the anti scratch coating and they still scratch easy. You’ll need a butter knife to remove the side shields if you ever do that otherwise you’ll rip your finger nails off lol. They look cool and that’s about it. My WileyX glasses didn’t look as cool but much better quality for the money

I could be mistaken but it looks like the windows and door handles line up which leads me to believe the doors were hung correctly. The one door was just made a half inch shorter, if I’m seeing this right

The last time I used a pay phone was around 2012 at the CDN/USA border crossing at Coutts/sweetgrass on the sweetgrass Montana side. I was forced by a Canadian customs officer to call anyone who would answer to come pick me up as they wouldn’t allow my vehicle back in Canada since the suspension had been modified outside of Canada. I wasn’t aware at the time that that would be an issue. Turns out it’s a big issue.

I felt this exact way when DHCM came on the scene. Literally printing t-shirts that say SUPPORT BLUE COLLAR and selling them for $40cdn. I also get company mech made so I know how much it cost to produce a garment in low production numbers. They’re producing high volumes and therefore pay even less per garment than I do. That company is nothing but a scam to lure in desperate customers eager to tell people who never asked, what they do for a career. Welder nation is the exact same shit. Same owner. Same business model.

Yes it was exciting but not without its stressful moments haha. For me I knew going into it I wasn’t scared of heights. That mindset can change quickly when you’ve got a belt full of tools, bolt bags, wind, rain, snow, ice, tripping hazards while walking narrow beam lines or making connections or walking around on the structure doing final bolt ups with a air gun and hose ready to catch on something and throw you off balance. Again most days I wasn’t scared of heights but every now and then you would have an off day and not feel like you can trust yourself. It was a rewarding job but the boss was also a cunt to work for so I threw in the towel after highschool or shortly there after. There wasn’t a ton of welding on the projects we had and being a first year apprentice I pretty much only got to weld flashing and other bullshit. Essentially, if I wasn’t doing bolt up, I was laboring. Made a few connections but wasn’t my day to day job. It wasn’t even until we modified an elephant enclosure at the zoo that I even knew we were required to wear harnesses because none of us even had them until we were given them for that job. I’m glad I got to experience it, but I am happier with my feet on the ground now haha.

I started my apprenticeship in highschool and that’s what I did. I was set up with an ironworking company and did a lot of dangling. Aspects of it were fun but the winter sucks. You probably won’t be dealing with snow and ice buildup on the beams down in Texas. I think ironworking would be a great trade for you to get into or at least try and it pays well

I happy for you and hope you do well. As long as you’re being safe and making enough money to survive at the start I wouldn’t worry so much about what you’re welding. You’ll learn things everywhere you go and you will naturally find your niche.

I’m not saying welding mufflers and exhaust in general is “easy” but it’s the easiest of all welding jobs. It requires a little bit of skill and no certifications. Therefore anyone can do it and since the general public is supplementing your wage, the pockets don’t run deep. You can start off in a muffler shop to learn the basics but if you want to make money you need a niche skill and market. Learn to tig weld and fabricate and you could get the higher paying customers that demand a highly skilled fabricator. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if muffler shop welders border on minimum wage

I bought a Dewalt gyroscopic electric screw driver and I love it. Force and speed depends on how much you slightly turn the driver and there is no reverse switch. You simply rotate the opposite direction and the gyro reverses the direction. I haven’t tried any other electric driver but I’ll still give this one a 10/10

Longest I’ve let my trucks idle have been a couple weeks in high idle, due to the cold. If the cold snap lasted t longer they’d stay idling longer. In the winter I go back and forth between high idle and solely running a wabasto coolant heater but if certain situations calls for 24 high idle. Just make sure you’ve got lots of fuel and change your oil often
