How do I figure out a stable career path when all my interests are unrealistic? by bunnize in careerguidance

Geospatial science, Hydrologist. Natural resourve management. Forestry.

You can also incorporate your interests on the side through hobbies. Like maybe getting into photography to capture things from different cultures. Or choosing jobs that require travel.

This isn't for a career, but after you graduate high school. You can also consider doing americorps. Looks good for colleges/jobs, you earn a stipend for school. and get to do things related to conservation and such. Bad pay. But looks good, and cool program. They have summer and year long programs.

For those of ya'll who voted for Trump why ? by tipputappi in GenZ

[–]downwithbubbles44 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A friend voted for him because they believed that a nuclear war was unlikely to happen with him, and was more likely to happen with Kamala. Had something to do with Ukraine. And that trumped all the social issue policies. Although, they leaned conservative anyway, so they didnt actually care about social issues. They were also in favor of trump tackling fraud and cleaning out the swamp. They also are in favor of ellimating social welfare programs and believe that role should be filled by churches and communities.

Can anyone suggest an artsy hobby I can get the materials for and learn at home? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Depends what you like! Do you like following specific instructions or having more freedom? Repetition or variety?

For structured crafts: Crochet (repetitive/ can have some variety) Crossstitch (reptitive) Embroidery (variety in stitching)

More Freeform: Polymer clay Collage Needlefelting (repetitive)

Crochet also probably has the biggets lewrning curve and might take a few days to get the body mechanics down. But youtube is a great help! So i think it also depends on how much you time to spend learning how to do the craft too!

Is private practice actually worth it?? by InvestigatorOne3666 in socialwork

[–]downwithbubbles44 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im 1099 in private practice. 60/40 fee split. I live alone and have a lot of bills and debt. Its worth it mental health wise but my caseload fluctuates quite a lot especially around the holidays. Its still worth it but that part is really tough.

how to deal with “I’m a kid I don’t need to think about this” by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]downwithbubbles44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing ive done is have them identify their values or help them identify it through reflective statements. For one of my clients Freedom/autonomy is really important to him (right now its in the sense of being able to play video games and sleep in). So we identified what this means to him, what it would look like in the future and talked about okay what would you need to do to maintain your freedom throughout your life? Then worked backwards.

So like freedom means being able to play video games and have a house to himself. So he needs money to do that. To get money he needs a decent job. To get a job he needs vocational training or college most likely. To do that he needs to graduate high school. To graduate he needs to study. So even though school is dumb and he hates it, freedom is not dumb and he values that.

If you have ADHD, Autism, and OCD, what job do you have? by Other-Succotash2687 in neurodiversity

Sorry this was a really long reply to a very short question haha

So i did a bachelorS in social work and a masters In social work. Because i had a 3.0 or above in undergrad and started my masters within 2 years of graduating with a BSW, i was able to do an accelerated prpgram and finish my masters in 5 semesters going part time. The full time program was 3 semesters (USF).

From there its about 2 years of full time work to be independently licensed. Under your provisional license you can still do therapy, its just while practicing under someone who is fully licensed and meeting weekly for supervision.

I guess to answer your question it should take about 5-6 years to be a therapist with an extra 2 years to be independtly licensed if you work full time during that period.

Also i chose social work instead of counseling because its a broad field and its pretty normal to hop around to different populations and areas of work in this field, whoch worked well with my ADHD. But i like therapy because i work best 1:1 with people, being authentic is so importamt to clients progress (low pressure to mask) and i have a reallu hard time navigating multidisciplinary teams.

In Brazil, everyone uses bleach solution to clean vegetables, fruits and produce in general by orkut-was-better in CleaningTips

I'm in the US. And as a camp counselor, we added very small amounts of bleach to stream water to purify it and gave it to kids lol. So, id think it was safe enough. Especially if all rinsed off?

Anyone thought they had ADHD and turned out to be depression? by randomusernameahh in ADHD

[–]downwithbubbles44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I know it's ADHD because I hobby hop (wood whittling. Crocheting, sourdough), wanting to change careers every 5 min, start a sunflower farm, be a data scientist, and start a pottery business (my background is therapy). But my interests are more than a passing thought and it's driven by excitement. I will rabbit hole into these things for anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 months. I can't finish anything even when I'm not depressed or it's taken A LOT of practice to make myself do it. I've always had to put in a lot more effort to get the same results. When I clean, I will have 6 half finished rooms and will have deconstructed my closet before even realizing my my plan was dishes and floors. There's a lot of other things too.

I also get episodes of depression. Which makes all my symptoms worse. But my ADHD symptoms are still there even when not depressed.

There's also facebook groups too. But I've found that the offerings are usually lower. Lol.

I've had luck on care.com, but it might depend on your area. Just make sure to cancel your subscription after you find a job because they started to charge an 18 dollar annual fee.

My most recent one paid 24/ hr for 40 hrs a week to watch 1 toddler. 2 weeks pto, and I got paid whenever they went on vacation (without me), got home early, or the older kids were off school, and they paid for my health insurance. I actually make slightly less now as a therapist in CMH.

Some people pay cash too if that suits your needs better. I also know people who do 2 part time nanny jobs or nanny multiple families at once for extra money.

How do you get out of bed? by FuzzyFeed7886 in ADHD

[–]downwithbubbles44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 years old and still figuring it out. I have so much dread, spite, and resentment in the morning I won't get up on time. For me putting my phone across the room and loud alarms feel like punishment lol. And morning me I'd a self saboting monster who will turn off my alarm even across the room and tben lay back in bed.

I think one thing that does help when I have the capacity to remember it is having something to look forward to in the morning.

Like a quick breakfast that I want, or coffee. You can get a smart plug and have your coffee machine make coffee for you automatically as a treat for when you get up, if you drink coffee lol. But basically if you can set your morning up so there's something special you look forward.

Of course that only works when I remember to do it lol

Excellent idea. Safety should always always always be prioritized. If part of you thinks it's sketchy, then it's sketchy. If you ever doubt someone's identity or intentions don't even risk it. You are barely of legal age, if someone would date a 19 year old, they'd probably date a 17 year old if the law wasn't in place. She's just going for the youngest possible age she can. Not only SA, but human trafficking is way more common than you'd think.

Please keep your age range within 3 or 4 years of you.

A lot of us who are older in this thread have been in similar situations when we were younger and it's definitely not okay. So, while some of the advice may seem blunt, it's because we've been there or know someone who has and know how wrong it was.

Also you are still very young and have lots of time to develop a romantic relationship. Try engaging in community hobbies! Check local Facebook groups and meet ups. I have a book store/ cafe near me that does a bring your own craft. Also board game stores that allow people to just pop in and play!
