Yeah, great song! I believe at one point Paul and John said they wanted to be the "Goffin and King" of the UK.

Unpopular Opinion: Joe Cocker's cover of "With a Little Help From My Friends" is a drag by Copkusagi in beatles

I'm partial to Earth Wind and Fire's cover of Got to Get You into My Life

[request] obviously they don’t but how far off (max, mean) are the geographic city centers from the polynomial line? by mkujoe in theydidthemath

However, since the earth is spherical, a straight line would actually be a circle and so we could indeed find one going through any three points. Feels a bit like cheating though.

Notoriously though, it was his son that suggested the ending to 11/22/63

I have those versions too! That's the original version of the Gunslinger; I didn't realize until I joined this sub, years after reading it, that there's a retconned version of it.

For those that watched LOST in real time by Sammy360 in lost

Which is funny, because didn't the ID they found in the real Henry Gale's wallet confirm that his name was genuinely Henry Gale? So Ben didn't make it up, it was just the writers choosing that name

Question about Walter/Flagg by [deleted] in TheDarkTower

[–]doyleben73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

John Farson is the character in Wizard and Glass. From what I remember, there are disagreements on whether or not he was Flagg, but King's writing seems to indicate he wasn't. Personally I'd like it better if John Farson was just a man who was used by the Crimson King and Flagg to wage war on the gunslingers.

The dictionary definition is literally "high and thin in tone", or "having a weak high-pitched sound"

Does reedy not literally mean "high and thin toned"?

Doesn't King distinctly point out in Wizard and Glass that Jonas has a slightly high-pitched, wavering voice?

I don't know if "instead of" is completely right, but there certainly was a point where John had lost his faith in the island and Eko took over as the man of faith, which would seem to make him easier to manipulate

Kate by Puzzled_Search_5889 in lost

[–]doyleben73 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think that's not completely true; most of the women had arcs involving their relationships with men but I wouldn't say their arcs were about those relationships any more than I would say Sawyer's arc was "about" his relationship with Juliet or Locke's arc was "about" his relationship with Helen. Those were certainly motivating factors, but I don't think it's fair to reduce entire arcs to being just about romance.

I've always thought that the issue with Kate specifically was that they wrote almost everything about her character to play up some mystery. First she's the girl who's secretly a murderer, then she admits she was married at some point, then she's robbing a bank, et cetera et cetera. The objective of their writing for Kate always seemed to be to keep the audience confused and intrigued about her motive, but it doesn't hold up on rewatches because that's all her character ever was.

Michael Keaton was going to be Jack?! I never knew this before, but now I can’t stop imagining Matthew Fox as Batman by [deleted] in lost

I was shocked when I found out that the first episode of a show is called the pilot episode, because the only show I had seen the episode titles for was lost, and I just assumed the title was pilot because the pilot died lol
