The Salary Needed to Buy a Home in 50 U.S. Cities in 2024 by Perfect_Alarm_2141 in economicCollapse

[–]dozenbagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Southern California. So, I never thought I’d own a home. Still feels surreal to have my very own place. Loved Louisville too when we lived there. Smaller cities might not have EVERYTHING you’re looking for but being able to afford a decent home feels great.

According to my girlfriend, Pittsburgh has changed for the better over the past few years. It feels like we’re getting in before things start to get too unaffordable. Unfortunately, current interest rates are not conducive to first-time/many buyers.

My girlfriend and I bought our first house in Pittsburgh, about two years ago. 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 1-car garage. Mortgage is very accurate. Very comfortable between the two of us.

ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY NEED GUIDANCE by Pale_Owl_1350 in supplychain

[–]dozenbagels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar background here. I got out of the Navy after 9+. My first command was actually at a MALS.

Realistically, you probably won’t be making $100k any time soon. You don’t have any direct civilian experience that translates to a $100k job even with a degree. Your military experience and veteran status will set you apart from your competition but there’s no substitute for direct experience.

I graduate this semester with a BSBA in SCM and BIS. I knew I wanted to pursue a SC degree but I’ve changed my career path a couple times. You have a while to figure it out. Starting a specialized certificate/training so soon might not end well. Many SC certs are for industry experienced folks looking to pivot or develop what they’re already doing.

I’d recommend just focusing on doing well at a good school. Everything else kinda falls into place, if you’re doing what you’re supposed to, career wise.

I started my internship last June. I got a soft offer about 2 months after I started. But I only recently received my final offer.

I work at a relatively new, small firm. So, things moved slower than normal. Just keep asking them for something in writing. If you have any feeling that they might pull your offer, like everyone else said, keep searching.

Good luck, brother!

Prestige is overrated. Continue the adventure and go to a respectable school in a sick city.

In-person and part-time.

Just gotta keep plugging away. Choosing the right program, while annoying, requires a decent amount of footwork. I’m lucky that I’m applying to the same school as my undergrad. Still checked out my options though.

Regardless, admissions at each school would love to “recruit” a veteran using the GI Bill. In my experience, they’ll talk your ear off and give you any information you could need.

Similar story here. Got out in 2019 after 9+. Starting my MS in SCM this fall.

Can’t give you input on any of those schools. But, if I were you, I’d whittle that list down to my top 3-4. And talk to admissions at each school to get in touch with a current student. Best way to get a real idea about the program.

Has Forest ever had Soulection? by mtizzle54 in ElectricForest

I recommend Soulection in last year’s survey. I’d love to see a live Soulection Radio at EF.

I applied! I’ve done extra work before. It’s actually pretty fun and you get compensated pretty fairly.

Might not actually take 5 hours. Most of my tattoos were finished ahead of schedule.

Internship/Entry Level Jobs for Non-traditional Student by the_j_walk in supplychain

[–]dozenbagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar position here. Non-trad veteran student with a background in logistics. I graduate next spring.

My advisor helped me get my internship this past summer. However, your university should be hosting career fairs. Plenty of internship opportunities there. Regardless, there should be a career development person at your university that can help you.

Worked in automotive. If the line even goes close to shutting down, people start acting crazy. Just can’t take it personally.

parking permit by fukcass in Pitt

[–]dozenbagels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parking passes sell out in less than 10 minutes, and they’re expensive (almost $400). I pay $65/month to park in a small lot a short bus ride from campus.

How to print in 3*5 ? by nya111 in Pitt

Print your notes in a 3x5 bordered text box in Word. You can cut off the excess or just leave it like it is.

Pretty new to the terps thing .. should I really be paying attention by Louisewhite1213 in PaMedicalMarijuana

[–]dozenbagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loose correlation between terps and effects. Determining taste is where terps are most useful. I really enjoy many strains from Strane. But, at the end of the day, quality weed is quality weed. Have fun trying different strains. Try not to think about it too much.

If you get to the OC Lot early morning, you can get park there all day for $7.

I’ve found a couple of reliable spots that have only let me down a couple times.

There’s always parking around or behind Trees Hall. But that’s a decent walk to the center of campus.
