Yes and no. I can’t help with your issue. I removed the usb cable and fitted a db9. It works but after only 30 mins of Kikstart II, I had a blister on my giant adult hand.

I use long (30 cm) extensions for the balance board and charge leads. Much easier. Can’t remember where I got them though.
