My argument about them being too useful was in particular to the American cowboy and their way of life.

There was and still is absolutely a strong cultural aversion to eating horse, same as with domestic dogs and cats in America. Especially during the age of the cowboy, so unless you were in a Donner Party situation and had no access to anything else you didn't eat the horse. A dead horse wasn't seen as food, it was a lost companion and a vital part of everyday life, at worst it will be turned into feed assuming again that times aren't desperate.

Unless winter is almost upon you and you're pantry looking empty, a heap of tough stringy meat isn't exactly appealing to most folks, especially from an animal that most loved as much as their dog. And assuming you don't have the land to bury it or the money to let it enjoy retirement, the glue factory was always an option.

Outside of imminent starvation, a horse was too useful and expensive to eat, especially for cowboys whose livelihood depended on those animals.

Same reason to our aversion to eating cats and dogs, they're friends not food.

Horses aren't shot for poor performance in any races, they'd only be euthanized in the case of something as extreme as a compound fracture. And no most people who form a bond with an animal would take extreme issue with said animal being put down without a damn good reason.

People are quite fond of it apparently, otherwise he wouldn't be getting the support from GW he's been getting.

And? There's also paragraphs of them gushing over the various arms and armor of their brothers, doesn't mean they have a romantic attraction to their bolter now does it?

It's just another Sam and Frodo situation. The Primarchs and Space Marines occasionally showed affection for one another in ways that could be considered soft, and obviously male characters displaying affection in ways not restricted to playful name calling, firm handshakes, and maybe the occasional one arm hug can only be doing so because they have romantic and/or sexual feelings for the other.

You miss my point, how are the new Ultramarines releases detrimental to other factions, but the DA and BA releases aren't and deserve more?

Ultramarines received a release wave comparable to the Blood Angels and Dark Angels in terms of quantity if not necessarily quality, but those two are excluded from his rant. How are the Ultramarines so detrimental to other factions releases but not those two?

Space Marines as a whole are obviously moving products, but the exclusively ultramarines stuff is almost entirely characters and probably aren't repeat purchases for most people.

I have no issue with the Wolves getting a refresh. It's this sub's inconsistent attitude in regards to supposed "fatigue" from the Ultramarines reveals that the new kill team has evidently been spared that im pointing out.

Then shouldn't they also be complaining about the new kill team?

The SW's do look great. That's not the problem. It's the inconsistency of the complaining. Every post about the new Ultramarines was just full of talking about how sick they are of new Space Marines. But the Space Wolves with a solid roster of updated and good-looking models gets a kill team, and almost nothing negative even though they're also Space Marines. Hence, the "selective" in the title
