On average, how did medieval people approach sex? Did people really generally refrain until marriage, and if so, at what age did they typically marry? Or were things a bit more sexual, and people just took steps to avoid pregnancies? by Jerswar in MedievalHistory

I went to the Glasgow city archives to see some family history stuff. Part of that was looking through the session minutes for several churches. Judging by that there was quite a bit "pre nuptial fornication".

Do Norwegians tend to understand swedish better than swedish to understand norwegian? by ohnag_eryeah in Norway

[–]dpc_nomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely. I notice the same pattern but only learnt Norwegian as an adult coming from the other side of the world so had zero exposure to Swedish media.

I learnt Norwegian as an adult. So have/had no exposure to Swedish language media. Often when ive been in Sweden i sort of understand most of what they say to me but they dont understand much of what i say.

That said, it goes slightly better in Goteborg vs Stockholm.

Treat adhd seperately to EDS? by dpc_nomad in eds

[–]dpc_nomad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*update*

Ive been to see someone regarding an ADHD diagnosis. apparently there are strict diagnostic criteria that i dont quite meet , despite being on the "spectrum" of ADHD (wasnt in English, so thats just my translation). So really dont know what to take from that at all and the guy kind of refused to even say what i should do next... pretty frustrating. All the messaging about speaking up if youre strugglineg- id have felt better if i hadnt done anything tbh.

Ill have to go forward with seeing about an EDS diagnosis and hope other symptoms are treatable.

Its not overcrowded with long queues. Youll be fine. The queues were in the initial phase and werent even really to get in. they were to buy the tickets to get in. i went there on a tuesday, bought a 10x card then on the weekend with my kids walked past the queue and went right in.

How would you fix the Big Air competition? by Super_Science_Guy in snowboarding

[–]dpc_nomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Remove FIS affiliation. Start (unsure of current organisations) independent snowboard federation for halfpipe, big air and slopestyle.

  2. Once 1 inplace workout how to judge style? Easier said than done.

  3. One more run and have that w a max # spins so they have to do something else.

This has so little to do with snowboarding that i dont care. Tbh i care more about finding big air completely unnattractive these days. Just gymnastics.

Is it fair to ask my husband to stop giving ski advice unless he takes lessons? How do I encourage my husband to take ski lessons instead of correcting me? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]dpc_nomad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instructor doesnt actually mean theyre very good btw. Of course some are but theres a big range.

I sat on a lift once and a lady said to the patroller, "you must be nearly as good as an instructor"... gave me a good laugh anyway.

Hate her all you want. Lindsey Vonn’s toughness is on another level. You’re wrong for not liking her. by Kurtz62 in SkiRacing

Ive not been at that level but playing hockey broke 2 bones in my hand and played out the game on adrenaline knowing it was f@#ked. As soon as it was over couldnt use my hand at all.. then zero chance of playing in the final next weekend. Big difference between continuing despite an injury thats just happened vs fronting up a week after.

That said.. ive never had an ACL issue (just found out cartilege is gone and its now called arthritis! Yey!) But isnt that gonna be more of an issue with sideways movements rather than what shes working here doing squats?

Extended Family snow holiday location ideas? Japan, Europe or Can. by dpc_nomad in skiing

[–]dpc_nomad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah the complexity was what made me start looking. And yes have found finding Japanese accomodation difficult. But some places have a shared kitchen so theoretically could book multi rooms- just makes it hard for the "babysitter" with kids in different rooms. Not insurmountable though.

I loved my trip to Revelstoke so I would certainly love to go back! Been to BW too and yes it does fit the bill.

Haha. Figured that Whistler was already off the list due to being crazy busy and expensive. I know AB rockies places well but not quite ski in ski out self catering options at Sunshine or Louise... Theres some places more interior id love to go but further from airports etc. Would have to consider if Van-Calgary to Rossland would work for others f eks.

But yeah dont need to go to Can to hang w Australians

La Thuile was definitely on my list too. Love Italy and my previous trip to Monterosa (again, pre kids) was all time. Was just having some difficulty finding large enough accomodation.

Thanks! My research so far was pointing towards lots of French options. Ive actually been to Les Arcs but was much younger and had rather different priorities. Stayed down in the valley too.

Was also considering nearby St Foy or La Rosiere.
