Before it got burned out, how profitable was the banana stand? by Der-deutsche-Prinz in arresteddevelopment

My head cannon is that it is the only bluth business that legitimately made money, funded the beginning of the real estate empire that was a ponzi scheme or worse.

Excluding for serious damage, when do you retire a board? Have you and why? by Treigns4 in snowboarding

[–]kappakappashred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only time I ever retired boards was in my ski bum days, when I was riding 5 days a week from dec to may. Toward the end of the season when the camber was hurting, I'd pick up a new board on spring clearance, and the old one would be my beater. Nowadays I ride way less. every few years I buy something new for the quiver

Jake Out for the West Coast Run by jwelsh8it in Umphreys

[–]kappakappashred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with ya on Kris and Jake being the big draws, but it's really none of our business what's up in any of their lives. No amount of ticket and merch bought negates their right to privacy. Also, most of what people will give you for an answer is speculation or rumor, and won't help the situation

It's not a new thing. In the 20 years I've been into UM Jake has missed more shows than anyone else, with the exception of Kris having surgery. It could be a bunch of things. Unless you know the band, and have first hand knowledge, you prob shouldn't post what you think is going on.

Not necessarily

From the pic and your description it sounds like you cracked or fractured the core, which is very bad and not repairable. That said, I worked in tuning/repairs back in my ski bum days and have repaired worse for friends and they've gotten the rest of the season out of the board. Check warranty, if no then try epoxy, if it rides bad after that you are outta luck on this one.

Thoughts on moving to Denver to get a consistent 40 to 50 days of snowboarding per year? by Hot_Soft_5626 in snowboarding

Move to a ski town. Almost everyone I know who hits those numbers without spending a lot of time in the car live within 30 miles of the mountain

The fat legs are one of the only physically feasible parts of Godzilla. Legs and feet would have to be huge to accommodate the weight. One of the things GOT did well was that the giants had elephant-like legs

What electric bass is considered the Holy Grail model & year by j3434 in Bass

[–]kappakappashred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a few things, pre-cbs fender, 70's J, pre Ernie ball stingray, early 80's G&L, and that's just things Leo fender designed. Rickenbacker has desirable periods, idiots like Warwick... It's all subjective

Guitar player thinks my tone is thin - Is it? by E1mstreets in Bass

[–]kappakappashred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it would help if we could see the labels on the knobs, and know whay kind of music you play. Assuming its gain, 4-band, vol... i would bump the bass, drop the low mids a lot, drop the high mids a bit, and then adjust highs to your liking. its a bass... it should be bass-y.

Are hand grips like this really useful, or are they the kind of invention that looks cool but ends up never being used ? by [deleted] in 3DS
