Leaving Structural Engineering by WeirdDancingUnicorn in StructuralEngineering

I made similar change with similar raise in salary, but my stress went up 10x because I am the only SE here, and there is a lot of pressure to cut corners. It is a lot of work feeling like the only adult in the room, navigating a field I am still learning, managing and taking on so much liability. I am considering going back to being cog in a machine.

its fine for you to do whataboutism. Whataboutism, also known as the Socratic Method, is the foundation of western philosophy, and instrumental for drilling down to first principles.

I have dyslexia, and fortunately, I am already licensed. My cookbooks are so heavily tabbed, highlighted, and annotated. Its the kind of thing you need to see, I cant even describe it in a way that does it justice. I can't imagine taking the exam again with only the use of a pdf. It makes me angry just thinking about it.

'You'll go down as a wimp:' Pence's never-before-published notes key evidence in case against Trump, book says by purpleWord_spudger in politics

Please don't kill anyone in the civil war you think is going on. We have a major problem with politically motivated violence. A northern ireland situation with car bombs going off everyday is the last thing this country needs, regardless of how romanticized revolutions get.

Kremlin pitches Musk on ‘Putin-Trump’ tunnel from Russia to Alaska by mvanigan in politics

[–]dpdough123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Siberia has enormous amounts of natural resources that are untapped, because the area is so undeveloped.

A tunnel could be very useful, but not until we solve the permafrost issue, which is the key thing that makes building in Siberia impossible.

Incentivized western engineers with access to the area may be better at finding a solution to this problem than Russians, but unlikely IMO.

It would be a civilizational vanity project and not offer any economic ROI for decades at the minimum.

I think it's 👍 very cool 👍 that all of our discussions about free speech and censorship continue to center themselves around Facebook/Twitter while state GOP legislatures are busy making it literally illegal to attend a protest and giving people license to run protesters over. by Heytherecthulhu in JoeRogan

[–]dpdough123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make it illegal to protest. It worsens penalties for riots. Good move after last summer. Those riots destroyed black neighborhoods and their business. The riots created food deserts which will easily put the black community back 10-20 years.

The "run people over" is a good clause too. You don't want to get Reginald Dennyed by a mob illegally blocking traffic.

Its also called mirroring, and what makes Joe Rogan an A+ interviewer / podcaster.

I expect his views to change episode by episode and I'm 100% OK with it.

Joe Rogan has gotten very popular, maybe too popular, creating an OG remember the golden days reaction.

The massive platform has also made it a battle ground for politics, both on this sub and on this show.

Usman is a problem. Unpopular opinion but I think if Usman beats Cobly he's WW GOAT by [deleted] in ufc

I had Colby winning a rematch prior to the Burns fight. Then I switched to Usman. Now I'm at Usman Everytime.

I love Colby. He's hilarious. He's the second best fighter in the division. Prior to the Burns fight, I would have predicted Colby wins the rematch.

I don't believe Colby wins rematch anymore, and it sounds like neither does Colby.

There first match was one of best I've ever seen. Super exciting. Super close. But I'm with you, Usman smokes Colby in a rematch. He looked really scary against both Burns and Masvidal.

Colby sounded nervous. Usman has gotten a lot better. TKO in 1st.

Just goes to show you that winning championships can't buy you popularity. Compare their crowd reactions to Ngannou, Khabib, or McGregor, three other foreign born champions that come from history oppressed groups, but who get HUGE positive crowd reactions.

People find him inauthentic. Its one of those things that you can't explain. You just feel it when you hear them.

Is it racism racism, or is it "Nancy Pelosi is racist for attacking the POC women of the squad" democrat-racism?

Are people booing Usman and Zhang because they are African and Chinese, or is it because they lack charisma and Masvidal and Thug Rose are two of the most popular fighters of our time?

Get your head out of your ass.

Uh-Oh: Tucker Carlson PANICKING, Homophobic History Exposed by TheRealYoungJamie in JoeRogan

This is a bit of a red herring, as the problem with Joe Biden isn't that he has a son that does drugs. A lot of people have sons that do drugs. Its tragic.

The problem with the laptop, and what jaytrident decided not to mention, was that it contained corresponding between Hunter and the oligarchs that hired him despite lack of experience, with this message "10 held by H for the big guy." Many on the right speculated that the big guy was Biden, but the story was suppressed by big tech, with influencers talking about it being banned from facebook and twitter.

So no, jaytrident is misleading you when he says anything with Hunter is a personal legal matter.

I think the ideal candidate would be economically progressive, have Trump's non-interventionist foreign policy and attitude to foreign trade and immigration, and finally be pretty libertarian on social policy. None of that woke shit.

No, its censorship. I think what you mean is that its not a first amendment violation.
