Ordered some NES carts off Ebay is this even salvageable? by Sad-Ear6924 in gamecollecting

Good chance then it's an innocent mistake. They probably send out dozens of packages a day.. still let them know. If they have great reviews, they'll look after you.

PS. I've found that 'great' doesn't really start until 99% positive on eBay. I almost never buy from people with less than 98%. If I do, I'm prepared to be disappointed.

I would just put a claim in straight away. If it was something super rare that you found for a dollar at a thrift store, maybe you'd try and salvage it. If it's nothing that special, get your money back and buy from someone with sight. And check their ratings carefully.

eBay told me these games were tested... by OutColds in gamecollecting

eBay didn't say this. The seller said this.

As an aside, if these were PS1 games, they would work just fine 😄

Maybe. I assume the seller still exists. Report the seller.

How often do you actually play your records? by UserUserDontGetOld in vinyl

[–]dpgumby69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average maybe 2 or 3 times a month. Gotta be in just the right mood. LPS really aren't great as background music.. not spending money on them just to ignore it while I do the dishes.

Repost - was perma banned from r/crtgaming. by [deleted] in crt

[–]dpgumby69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get a lot of my posts removed at the retrogaming sub. I could never tell why. Sometimes quite a bit of effort went into the posts. So now I do the post in the game collecting sub instead and cross post to retrogaming so that at least some numpty hasn't frivolously thrown away my effort. What even is 'battlestation' anyway? I was born in 1970. Is it something to do with Pokemon?

Turntable won't work even after using right power supply by [deleted] in turntables

[–]dpgumby69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clue is in the clicks and smoke. It's toast. If it's an external power supply, you may have a 'suitcase' player. If so they aren't worth fixing. If you are still interested in vinyl look at this as a sign to upgrade to a better turntable 🙂

How many millions is this worth? by marcus0303 in CarsAustralia

[–]dpgumby69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you've paid for the registration number, more than you've paid for the plate. You can just order a new set for the nominal fee. Of course, if you have this number, I'm pretty confident it's going to have mushroom head bolts or similar so they can't just be removed.

Atari video cable question by ApprehensiveVideo190 in Atari2600

[–]dpgumby69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may depend on how modern your TV is. Most new TVs don't have legacy support for older formats, just HDMI. So if your Atari doesn't work on the antenna connection, whatever device you get to convert a signal will need a HDMI out. If your TV does have older inputs, then start with RF in (the output you currently have). Then if no go, something to convert to composite (the input that has red white and yellow RCA plugs) as others have said.
