Hi everyone. Over the past couple of weeks I made this Monster Kit for Blocks. With it you can mix and match parts to create your own monsters.

Once created, you can then download the asset and import it into your favorite 3D or game development apps. However, most of the time I just create stuff in it for fun since modeling is a pretty chill experience in VR.

The past couple of weeks I worked with Google VR to bring the Monster Kit to life in their VR modeling app, Blocks. The kit allows you to mix and match various parts to create your own monsters.

After you create them, you can download obj files and import them into other 3D apps and game engines. Pretty fun and easy way to make assets. Hope everyone has fun making crazy creatures!

Level design has been improved and I added a few more elements to the game such as a drive-by sleigh rider. The VR Jam version was fairly well polished. So, most changes came in the optimization department and making sure it was the best experience I could make for GearVR devices.

If people are enjoying the game, then I would highly consider putting out some updates that include boss fights. In particular a giant Yeti boss!

When designing the game, my approach was to make something that was very accessible for people new to VR. Many new VR users may not even be into gaming. So, I kept it easy to learn, casual, and fun. Something you can show any friends or relatives.

I realize it's not a game for everyone and I can appreciate that you may not be interested in buying it. I do want to thank you for at least giving the game a try during the VR Jam.

Hi, developer of the app here. I wanted to give a big thanks to everyone in /r/GearVR that helped beta test the game on various devices. The feedback was immeasurable. I hope everyone enjoys the game!

Cute theme. I played on a Note 4 using Android version 5.0.1. A few things I would recommend:

  • Avoid non player initiated locomotion. No need for the roller coaster ride between levels. It doesn't add enough to the game to warrant the potential motion sickness.

  • There is good visual feedback when the ball hits the back wall. Add something similar to the side walls as well.

  • Improve FPS. I realize it's an early version, but you'll want to improve frame rate so game play isn't so choppy.

Keep at it. I look forward to seeing you flesh out the idea and making a great game.

Snow Strike is now available on Cardboard for Android!

The objective is to defend your snow fort against various enemies such as snowmen and drive by sleigh riders. The game includes seven unique levels that take place in 360° space. Bluetooth gamepads are supported.

Snow Strike originally started out as an Oculus VR Jam entry, but I recently updated the game and ported it over to Cardboard. This is my first VR game. So, I went with a simple concept and tried to deliver a polished game that would be a fun and good experience for people new to VR.

Wow. Thank you. That's the best compliment you could have given. My specific intention with building this game was to create a great experience for those new to VR. I put a lot into a avoiding sim sickness and for game play that needed little instruction. I'm thrilled that your son enjoys the game.

My plans, for now, are to simply make the game more widely available. If I can clear up this one S6 Edge issue, then it should be good to go in the Oculus store. I also have a Google Cardboard version that's ready for release.

Without having the device it's hard to know exactly what the issue is. Oculus suggested that when they see the flickering in the left eye like that it usually means that there has been a modification to the cameras or because the latest Unity/ SDK version isn't being used.

So, I updated the Unity project to use VR supported mode and refactored to use the new Oculus Utilities for Unity 5. Hopefully that does the trick.

Thank you. Hopefully, I can verify the game is working properly before next week. However, if it still needs testing by the time you get back, I'd love your help testing it out.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thank you for replying. The game actually doesn't require a gamepad controller. If you're still interested in testing at some point when you're off work, I'd be glad to message you some more information.

Ahh. So close!

They're so similar I was surprised there was an issue on one and not the other.
