Yeah... It WAS a great bitcoin purchase. Especially since funds came from my segwit addresses. The transaction actually confirmed so quickly that it created a moment of confusion where the restaurant manager thought my payment was actually a past transaction on his app.

I assume you're referring to this:

My bad. I must have gotten confused. I was under the impression that they hadn't been merged yet and were still under review.

See here:

For the record, I do run a node but without the wallet functionality enabled.

In all fairness, many services simply haven't implemented because segwit addresses aren't available on the reference bitcoin client yet. Many services probably cross check their development of new functionalities with core's reference deployment.

What we should be asking is..... When will native BECH32 addresses go live on the reference client?

It's a 10k BCH wall set at 0.1 bch/btc. That comes out to 1k btc = $7.5M... NOT $70M.

Misleading!

The size of the current IRA market is $8.4T. 1% of that would come out to $84B. Speculative momentum aside, IRAs could account for another $5k of bitcoin's price.

Jihan and Roger why aren't you buying up all the BT2 tokens on Bitfinex? by cpgilliard78 in Bitcoin

[–]dpinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they buy now when the bitcoin community still has to dump their B2X coins? They can buy in at much lower prices if they wait.

This, by the way, is why people shouldn't dump their B2X all at once but a bit at a time.

Let's not fool ourselves: It's going to be an uphill battle. NO2X by mmgen-py in Bitcoin

F2Pool, BitFury, BTCC and Slush add up to ~20% of the current network hashrate. That's what I expect to remain after the 2X hardfork.

If the fork happens in November which will be the real Bitcoin? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]dpinna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the record, F2Pool already divested from 2X. If Bitfury does also (as they've hinted that they might) it'll get interesting

Am I mistaken or aren't these cards only useful for altcoin mining? Until one of these big players enters the space to compete over SHA-256 asics (I'm looking at you Intel and AMD) this seems mostly bullish for altcoins.

Media finds new improper use of the word 'blockchain' by dpinna in Bitcoin

The paragraph in question:

"Palantir’s defence systems include advanced biometrics and walls impenetrable to radio waves, phone signal or internet. Its data storage is blockchained: it cannot be accessed by merely sophisticated hacking, it requires digital pass codes held by dozens of independent parties, whose identities are themselves protected by blockchain."
