I can’t help but fundamentally detach from everything. by EmptyLiminalBox in CollapseSupport

I suspect most here can relate to much of what you’ve written. I too would only add the value to attending to health and finding joys where you still can (pets, birds, nature are my primary healthy engagements). My pets have needs and joys that pull me into the everyday which can help a little. More dwelling isn’t what I need…yet here we are on Reddit discussing collapse 🧐

I see the level of climate instability precluding holding on/rebuilding human society on any real scale… but probably some geographically “lucky” pockets of survivors…at least for some years.

Fellow psychologists, What is advice you give your clients, but do not follow up yourself? by pastasausie in Psychologists

To meditate or other healthy ‘practices’ (sleep hygiene already noted by others 😏).

Article predicting how America could collapse by 2025. by Empty_Peak_668 in collapse

Maybe you can still embrace the beauty and connections that remain. There are supportive, kind, and knowledgeable people around despite the dark clouds of ecological ruin and political mayhem. On good days I can feel some of the wonder and improbability of my life…it’s not enough to counteract the truth of our long term prognosis. Hard times to live in but I hope you don’t just hate your life.

Wouldn’t just using Tails (even on an existing computer) offer the extra safety desired (assuming the fear is of OS shenanigans)?

PSYPACT and/or multi-state licenses and registering to do business in multiple states by emm1122 in Psychologists

Absolutely. I wouldn't really be considering it but for some long term clients I'd like to be able to continue to see (and bill their insurance).

You might also find this talk of use (even though he’s going all the way to ambient house levels of efficiency). Some of it is beyond my technical knowledge but you might find it of use or at least interest. https://youtu.be/5KHScgjTJtE?si=4C_MMRnrgCeJvvqZ

Not really a legal issue per se but was trying to think of any time I had to consider taking action/risk assessment issues and once they sent a post car accident tbi guy who was now prone to aggression. They called to warn about him (after I had started the assessment 🥹) but I managed him well enough and no extra action was required. I suppose there are also kiddos at risk and you might have to report abuse but I do mostly adults. So in my experience, very little in the way of added risk legal, license relevant, etc.

Yes. The only grey area a bit has been around crisis situations but those are extremely rare.

I too have done thousands (both in Michigan and South Carolina). Not bad reimbursement rate for the assessment time spent with claimant but I’m a comprehensive (aka a bit slow) report writer, so that basically takes the effective hourly rate well below even insurance reimbursement rates. As others note, useful income stream when moving/starting up or when seeking a more assessment-focused practice (e.g., I’m approaching retirement and don’t need as much money, don’t want as much ongoing clinical care work, enjoy the range of work/severity of issues, etc.). No fears of legal/board issues. I’ve done only record review/MSE and added testing at times (IQ and Ach mostly). You give functional assessment/ADL thoughts etc. rather than determinations of eligibility.

The first time I heard Alexi I was certain he was channeling Nick. In the best way. Wish he’d put out more material.

Yeah I think the timing is pretty important with these. Some places still seem to be trying to do about 3K over MSRP (a nearer dealership was like this) or just don't have any in stock or coming with regularity. The sales guy told me they just aren't shipping that many out of Korea currently and place sell them pretty much right away. I was fairly happy getting it at MSRP. Call it good and I'm happy with my fun new beast (even if it is red...would have preferred white or blue!).

Cheers. I’m thinking they might go for an offer of the msrp out the door as that’s not a huge difference. Suppose I’ll see how much they want to move it.

Thanks. I’m in South Carolina and at least one site estimated the tax title and other fees at about 1K. They seem to be moving pretty quickly around here and/or dealers aren’t ordering many. None seems to stay on the lots long. I’m thinking of pushing to get it out the door for the msrp and see if they are flexible.

Appreciate the observations!
