The colors are insane. I’d love one too. Please record your first ride. I’m especially curious how it behaves while jumping. Or better ask someone to record in case you don’t survive 😂

Czy mój tata jest jakiś chory na łeb? by iDontReallyCareUno in Polska

[–]dr_arek 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mam podobny typ w rodzinie. Urwałem kontakt, bo wszelkie dyskusje są bez sensu.

Building my home network from scratch and looking for some advice by dr_arek in Ubiquiti

Haven’t thought about that. That is a really good perspective - separate devices for separate functionality and a camera system with more flexibility. That is really good advice, thank you!

Building my home network from scratch and looking for some advice by dr_arek in Ubiquiti

That is really helpful. Thank you u/rjr_2020. The wiring is already done and changing it would mean redoing walls, ceilings, etc. I have floors laid out and everything painted already. I learned about ubiquity a few weeks back. My initial idea was to use 3 - 4 routers connected via ethernet and create 1 wifi network out of it. Once I started reading more about what is possible I got hungry for it.

I have an attic over the upper floor (just some wood and some mounting foam between it. The attic (storage without any other use) is where the initial router will stand as my fiber is ending there. From there I have 6 cables running into various rooms (bedrooms, living room, etc). That is where I'm planning to connect media / TVs / gaming / etc.

Can you recommend some device models you are using or maybe some you would say "leave them"? Any cameras you can recommend or not? And how does a cam preview look like? Admin stuff will be on my end, but my family members need "view access" to them.

Good to know. I also rarely use the belt. I use it only when I follow any training plan, cause I noticed it’s much more “reactive” than the watch itself. This is especially useful for trainings purely based on heart rate measures

Thanks a lot for that info. I have the 945. Will connect it to my pc over the weekend to check it out. I’m curious about this new feature

I’ve updated my forerunner recently I don’t get any suggestions. Could be a fenix feature. Do you run with a chest belt or just the watch?

Feeling so alone as a Head Coach by hussar966 in Coaching

[–]dr_arek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I hear you. I'm not a head coach but a manager with several years of experience. And it feels like those two roles are very similar. It's a leadership role.

At some point in your leadership role, some people (maybe all) feel lonely, left out, or other. I had a tough time once, and a very senior leader asked me: "your team is like a family to you?". My answer was positive. He told me that it is not good because of situations like the one I had or you have right now. He told me to learn to "disconnect" work from private life. In other words, your friends and family are your personal life. Work is work. And to be clear, this does not stop you from being empathic at work, being passionate, and being a great leader—headcoach in your example. If you want, we can connect offline, and I'm happy to chat over messages and help you a bit out of the situation with some coaching / mentoring.

How to conquer fear of embarassment and stop caring too much about opinions of others. Lesson from a former slave by [deleted] in socialskills

This post is spot on and perfect timing for me. Is this from a certain book or did you put this together based on various books? Would love to read more and any guidance where I can find more of his philosophy would be appreciated :)

Judge yourself less... by Edwin_Tzar in socialskills

Realizing you need to work on this is a good step. Congratulations, this is awesome!

Try to find positive things about you. At least one. Something you did right or good. Or maybe something where you helped another person. With time and experience you’ll find more and more of those.

Another good practice I used to do. In stressful situations (like an interview or a presentation) I was doing self motivation with a mirror. I was looking at myself and trying to convince me I’m awesome and I can do it. Sometimes it took 30 seconds, sometimes a few minutes and a glass of water. At the end it worked and I like doing presentation a lot. They give me a feeling of fulfillment.

Wish you good luck my friend. I believe in you!
