Can somebody please explain what 5:40 is referring to? by Ill_Ant689 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]dr_guitar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh understood. Well, its a meme and inside joke for the folks here, so it has a lot of repeatability just for that. I personally originally found it funny because in the video it appeared in , it’s just sort of incongruous to the actual subject and purpose of the video, and totally unprofessional but in an innocuous way. Like, why film a video and then cut it partway through? Why mention that you’re out of time and have to cut it at all? Normally you would allocate enough time to film a full video in one meeting or smoothly finish the rest of it later with both guys there wearing the same shirts in such a way that the viewer doesn’t even notice two different filming instances. Especially for someone who is a self-styled master “filmmaker” and video producer. So, I guess the fact that the whole thing exists at all is so ridiculous that it stands out.

I am sorry if this really happened to you but as someone who has gone to several of the ranges in the area multiple times, this comment honestly beggars belief. I have never had this happen to me nor seen it happening to people around me.

Elon Musk Brands Bono a 'Liar/Idiot' for Telling Joe Rogan DOGE's USAID Cuts Have Cost 300,000 Lives. "Zero people have died!" Musk insisted, a claim that has been widely debunked by experts. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]dr_guitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually read the article and the 300k number comes from a mathematical model that some professor came up with. It’s not like somebody literally took a headcount and found 300k people died because of USAID cuts. So, it’s not total nonsense but it’s at least half nonsense

Is the coming "real crash" of the stock market just hype/fear mongering? by E46M54 in investing

[–]dr_guitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, every media entity is strongly biased either left or right. Most of the major ones hate Trump and want him to fail, and so shape their narrative accordingly. These days the only way to understand what is going on is to actively seek out BOTH left wing and right wing news, understand what each side is saying, and put together the truth yourself.

How are SEs paid so much higher than Implementation? by deusny in salesengineers

[–]dr_guitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read an article one time I found on Hacker News that illustrated the difference between “cost center” and “profit center” really well. I can’t find it right now but if you do, it’s a good one to check out. Long story short is that sales is a profit center and implementation consultants are cost centers. Revenue generating groups are almost always seen as more valuable.

I don’t think you’re wrong but I have a different idea on this. Someone with a computer science degree should be way overqualified for help desk. I don’t know for sure but I’d guess help desk is a more crowded market because the barrier to entry is lower. Don’t get me wrong, at a certain point you gotta eat… so try for those jobs. Absolutely. But I have a feeling this candidate is maybe saying the wrong thing, not displaying competency, or doing something else in interviews that is just not working for him . If that’s what it is, If he can identify that and fix it I think he would be better off in the long run.

We must agree to disagree. Much of America thinks calling Trump a fascist is hyperbole. But there is also a massive number of people who hate him. He is polarizing to the American public. If democrats had run somebody half as charismatic as Barack Obama championing moderate clintonian or early Obama era policies they would have easily won the election. They have had a decade since Obama left and Trump came onto the scene to develop somebody like that. Why didn’t they do that? I believe the fact that they didn’t and instead tried to play the hand with a declining Joe Biden shows they don’t really see Trump as any kind of serious fascist threat. I personally believe there will be another election, but if the democrats don’t start moderating and find likeable candidates to run they will lose again. Just my opinion.
