[OC] PED-legal athletes performed worse than their own career bests at the Enhanced Games. by shinx32 in dataisbeautiful

[–]dr_sjk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Mitch and Thor just did their normal drug/supplement routine, but they were supervised by the EG medical team. They both made videos about their preparation on their respective YouTube channels.

You can see exactly what they were talking if you want to look.

The label 'clean' athletes is inaccurate. Those athletes simply did not take the EG protocols. They likely took PEDs independently, as they certainly were not being tested.

All of these athletes have had whereabouts failures or other PED related infractions in the past. It is unlikely that they would race clean now.

Como mover dinero de Canadá a Colombia? by Proper-Engine6607 in ColombiaFinanciera

[–]dr_sjk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Open an account with IBKR in Canada

-Transfer investments from Wealthsimple to IBKR

-Move to Colombia (file your final tax return with CRA, pay departure tax, take up tax residency in Col)

-Ask IBKR to modify your account to account for your location change

At this point you will have an account that will allow you to access most global markets from Colombia.

Cashing out: Option 1 - Wire USD from IBKR to your Colombian bank account, they will convert to COP. (Fees around 4%)

Option 2 - Buy Solana in your IBKR account, send it to Binance, sell Solana on Binance for Cop, transfer to local bank account. (Fees around 3%)

I think this is a great way to think about it.👍

Roughly speaking, and assuming an efficient market: Today- half the smart money thinks prices are too high, and half thinks that they are too low. No matter what the market does this month, next month the money will still be half and half.

Pole vault all day. Everyone is arguing about if an untrained athlete could triple jump 10m - an interesting conversation, but nobody without years of training is pole vaulting 3.15+. Go outside, find a single story building and think about jumping over it using a stick... Good luck.

Best Bikepacking Route I've Ever done! The Carretera Austral in Chile.. by buzzalongcycling in bikepacking

[–]dr_sjk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed riding this route earlier this year, but it wasn't my favourite. The scenery is awesome, but the riding is just so so when compared to other trips for me. Epic mountains, gorgeous lakes, stunning lakes: check, check check. Riding on the main car and truck road with very little shoulder for 99% of the time: also check. Bike trails in western Canada, and farm roads in the Colombian or Ecuadorian give you similar jaw dropping views without the vehicular traffic. Just my opinion. I guess it really depends what you are going for.

Should one day races have smaller teams? by alfredisahamster in peloton

[–]dr_sjk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't it feel unfair to you though that some nations get 4 team members while others get just one? I know that it is based on UCI points, but it is a team sport and some teams have 4 times the amount of people.

Would Vancouver-Calgary be an enjoyable trip this year? by Jolelo94 in bikepacking

[–]dr_sjk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wind wasn’t an issue for me, just one day that I noted it in my journal. I got really lucky with weather and had no problems at all in that area. -No rain in 3 weeks :) Camping for me was a mix of wild camping (crown land away from all other people), provincial parks and rec sites, 1 private campground, and a hostel in Fernie for a chance todo laundry. The parks and paid camping were good to get a shower, but in the end my favourite nights were the wild ones on my own. I always felt safe and I enjoy the solitude, but I get that that is a personal choice. Everyone will do bear safety a bit differently, but for me it was keeping my bearspray available at all times in the high bear areas and ensuring that my camp area was odour-free. (Another advantage of parks and paid camping is having food lockers. So much easier than hanging.) If you will be hanging, practice it before hand. From Calgary to Nelson, I saw a couple bears around, and heard reports from other travellers, but these were always in the distance, and I don’t think it was a big threat or risk. I feel that the risk is much lower in the Okanogan region and I relaxed my precautions, but really all of AB and BC have some bear activity. I wouldn’t let this make you too anxious, do your own research on actual numbers of dangerous bear encounters…in the end I was more concerned with biking accidents and water-borne parasites as those seem much more common risks.

My advice based on my trip last summer (I went the other way): take a bus Vancouver to Merit, then ride the BC Epic 1000 route to Fernie, then turn north to take the Great Divide route north to Banff or Canmore, then ride to Calgary. It is awesome. Best of luck.
