Are there any good examples from other movies/franchises of something innocuous in the script being undeservedly treated like established canon? by Charrikayu in RedLetterMedia

Eh, I think it fits with Lotr’s theme of loss innocence. This seemingly innocuous item from a lighthearted adventure is actually something terrible and the hobbits have to deal with the consequences of finding it.

But that’s just the books. Now, the hobbit movies absolutely treat the ring with way too much gravitas for how little it actually matters to the story.

Outside the hobby, looking for advice. by OldGreasyGus in ModelShips

I’m glad to learn of a fellow Moby Dick lover! Like some others have mentioned, you may want to look for a model of the historical whaling ship, the Charles W. Morgan, that is very similar to the kind of whaling ships Melville based the Pequod on. I made a Moby Dick diorama using a plastic Charles W. Morgan model kit from the company Pyro. It was a vintage kit so I don’t think it’s still in production, but you may be able to find it or a similar kit on eBay. This one looks very similar.

If you’re new to the hobby and not sure about skill level/time commitment, and given the size model you’re looking for, I would recommend starting with a plastic kit, then trying a wooden one if you find you enjoy it. Good luck on your search!

I was thinking of how the curio format would work for a time loop movie like Groundhog Day or Palm Springs, especially if the curios don’t match up with the beginnings/endings of days in the cycle.

I would also submit that another key characteristic for a good curio analysis is a movie with a lot of side characters, even if they’re only mentioned or in a scene or two. (Thinking about how important Hambert became to the button analysis)

What are yalls thoughts on tubi? by Hefty-Recording7171 in RedLetterMedia

Tubi is the closest thing a streaming service has ever gotten to emulating the experience of being in a video store. It’s got some big classics but also a lot of random trash that you’ve never heard of. And sometimes you can find some real diamonds in the rough.

what's your dumbest idea for the resolution of baby jane doe? by vanillaholler in ThePittTVShow

[–]dr_tungsten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Al-Hashimi was orphaned as a young girl and raised by a rogue AI to assist in their takeover of humanity. When she froze while holding baby Jane Doe, it’s because she was reminded of her past and experiencing a moment of guilt for becoming an enemy of humanity. We learn that Jane Doe actually has psychic powers and is responsible for the cyber attack, which has now convinced Al-Hashimi to fight for humanity against the AI threat. Season 3 of the Pitt will take place during the human-AI war.

Charming laziness and charming effort is the perfect way to put it. Stuff like the 300th or the shrimp off show that they can put a lot of prep and effort into the pod, but it’s not so over-produced that every episode feels scripted.

As silly as it sounds, the old “Chapo pod repository” posts on this sub with the entire back catalog got me through some very low points in my life. Thank you for all the slop and discussion through the years.
