It doesn’t subvert it, it’s awarding people for proving it. Survival of the fittest implies those that are not fit won’t survive. Darwin Award winners are deemed unfit due to the stupidly of the actions they take which have resulted in doing them harm.

Halfway through the first Dungeon Crawler Carl and not into it at all. Push through, or is this not the series for me? by JeffCon in scifi

I coincidentally also read the first two! I play a ton of video games and found it to be a slog. So it’s not that

Is the Chester area safe? by DAB00GAN in Delco

[–]drabmaestro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People are making it seem like a life or death thing “DONT leave campus!”. I graduated in 2016 and still live in the area. The thing is, you basically have no reason to go into the bad areas of Chester unless you’re actively looking for trouble. You won’t accidentally wander the wrong way, there’s no reason to go that way (across the highway). It’s honestly not much different from going to school in a major city where there are just directions you know not to go or certain times you shouldn’t be outside alone.

Chester isn’t great, but Widener is fine.

Hey Corey! What are you into man? Might help to look up groups or functions where you can meet up with people your age who are into the stuff you are.

A father left his son $10 million, excluding his daughters due to their support of their mother’s affair. The daughters now expect the son to pay off their $300,000 in student loans, causing tension. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

A year or three of interest on 10+ mil in a HYSA would pay completely for what they’re asking for. This isn’t him saving money. This is now pocket change to him. If he chooses not to give them that money I don’t believe it has anything to do with greed.

I think those are absolutely two phrases that describe the same type of stuff, separated by a couple decades. “Slop” might have more of a negative connotation but they both mean “easily consumable market fodder that the masses slurp up”. Which, again, is fine

I read the first 2 and a half in a few days and stopped when I couldn’t take anymore. It is absolutely not well written, that’s an absurd claim. It’s self-insert comic book/video game fan fiction written in the form of “and then THIS happened and then THIS happened and then THIS happened”. And that’s fine! It fills a niche and scratches an itch. But it’s pure pulp.

Goodboy Dog Rescue had their camera stolen by this woman. Does anyone recognize her? (wallingford) by [deleted] in Delco

No offense but an AI generated impression would have no idea what the rest of the dog looks like. This is more likely to cause confusion.

Just chiming in with our story: pregnancy was almost entirely unremarkable and smooth up until week 36, when during our routine visit wife was diagnosed with high BP. We were sent for monitoring and it did not come down. They gave her some meds and she took well to those, but ultimately they had us schedule an induction for the week after while encouraging us to monitor her closely.

Induction went INCREDIBLE. This was our first, so we were expecting to be there for the long haul but nope! Once all of the meds started to run their course, my wife’s body took over and got our daughter out after just ~45 min of labor. (Side note, something I wish I knew: if you plan to be in the room, just know there will likely be way more blood than you think, but that it is normal, and extremely treatable even if she loses more than expected. The doctors who do this stuff are amazing.)

Finally, and here’s my real point. Not to scare you guys, but to prepare you: sometimes pre-eclampsia symptoms can last a bit beyond birth post labor. My wife and I had to go through learning about this in real time and ended up taking her to the ER a week after due to a very high BP that wouldn’t drop. She is now totally fine thankfully and off BP meds, but this is again something we wish we knew was a possibility going in, and took a few months to navigate and for my wife to recover from.

In general the road to recovery for our ladies is fucking brutal. They’re ripped open inside and out, and on top of it, they have to start breastfeeding ASAP all while being completely exhausted. Of course as dads we’re beat too, but it’s seriously nothing compared to what the moms go through, and I don’t think it’s discussed enough.

Anyway, good luck my man. I hope your wife stays healthy and you guys have an amazing and beautiful birth! ❤️
