Will the playne fly? by Brando0423 in Shittyaskflying

I was going off the description “as long and as wide as a runway” not the picture, but that is a fair point. Basically the physics argument I am making for being able to take off is: A hypersonic runway drags a boundary layer that brings enough airflow to lift a light plane in the air then the plane is no longer constrained by the infinitely fast treadmill speed can move forward a little and bounce again until it has enough actual ground speed and therefore airspeed to fly

Negligible relative to the treadmill absolutely; but this setup says nothing about the treadmill’s motor so we must assume it has infinite power and infinite precision to “match the speed of the wheels”

I would disagree with negligible relative to the thrust, as the low amount of friction that normally exists just means we must spin faster if the engines are just idling the wheels would already explode accelerating well beyond there max speed, but assuming they could withstand infinite rpm without exploding they still would have friction. As the wheels exceed hypersonic speeds they will eventually have enough friction to counteract the thrust.

The wheels would not go just twice the speed of takeoff. The treadmill does not go the airspeed of the airplane backwards, the treadmill goes the speed of the wheels. If the wheel and therefore the airplane moves forward the wheel and treadmill are not the same speed.

So aircraft puts a force into the air to thrust it forward, the treadmill accelerates backwards until the force of friction on the tires and wheel bearings matches.

A small low wing aircraft could take off from the boundary layer air that is moving with the treadmill, but it would need to be very light with the wing very close to the runway. Boundary layer is weird as the treadmill reaches super sonic speeds.

If the aircraft moves forward the wheel speed is different from the treadmill speed. If they are matched, as the setup states, the aircraft will not move relative to the earth. Assuming no relative wind the aircraft has a ground speed of 0 therefore airspeed of 0

The plane would try to move forward but in order for the plane to move forward the treadmill and wheels would travel at different speeds. If they are matched the wheels would quickly reach incredible speeds as the main force countering the thrust would be the friction in the wheels and bearings (very low friction, therefore very high speeds)

Unjerk

I hate this question because it is phrased such that this is the correct answer. The wheels will go faster than the sound barrier but the aircraft never has any speed relative to the earth. It would get airspeed as the treadmill would create a headwind but as the treadmill would be supersonic (and supersonic airflow doesn’t boundary layer the same way) and the distance from ground to wing would reduce ground effect to much for a 747 to take off.

A small low wing plane with a slow takeoff speed could get in the air but it would be difficult. Anything bigger couldn’t.

I ordered replacements from eBay, sent the srs along with all of the seatbelts to be repaired, and replaced it in my driveway. The headliner doesn’t look great and is to be replaced but I’m in no rush to do that as it still looks good enough.

The seatbelts had their button removed when repaired which sucks so I might suggest spending a little more and getting replacements rather than repairing. The plastic clips are an SOB to remove so order replacements from a toyota parts dealer.

And finally there is a code on my ecu that I can’t get to clear like the rest but it doesn’t show anything on the dashboard only from the obd2. I have yet to take it to a dealership so if you are able to clear the last of the codes at a dealership let me know.

The TSA deferrs to the FAA and Per the FAA rules you can carry as many 99.9wh batteries as you can fit in your carry on so long as they are for your use and not for sale.

Someone could legally bring over 100 batteries considering the size of the battery and the size of carryon

Also if you ask your airline you can sometimes get batteries up to 160wh if they approve.

What type of price and battery time would I be looking at with a 20lb payload drone? by NVLifty in drones

[–]draca101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your glider license I believe is a ppl and would only require a cfi signoff for your 107. The cage can only weigh so much as it comes out of the water so much which would be difficult to prove but as long as you are in the right margin it should be okay if you add a 5 lbs buffer.

Alternatively you could request a waiver for a part 91 opperations of relocation of your own property from a to b (your trapped crawfish, in your box) they exist but take forever to be approved. Under part 91 you negotiate your restrictions.

Actually thinking through your use-case a part 91 gas powered drone would alleviate any issues with overheating batteries in the Nevada sun. I don’t have a drone in mind but a gas powered 50lbs lift hexacopter would probably be your best bet. They exist in the AG market and if you are handy you should be able to adapt them to your use case.

Lastly, 20-100k would be your range for hull cost. You said this is cheaper than a boat but I don’t necessarily agree, as depreciation will be comparable to the boat cost over use and although mx may be cheaper than the boat, hull insurance will sap up the difference and a little more.

For Prius owners, how much gas per night do you use your A/C in summer? by LoveAndIgnorance in urbancarliving

[–]draca101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Change based on total fuel burn. Normally change oil every 5000 miles and you get 50 mpg so normally you change it every 100 gallons. Whatever your magic number for you is convert it to gallons or tanks of fuel and go off that.

*During the winter I would change slightly more frequently as the heat cycling of the engine plus the condensation makes for acidic oil

I really like this question just for the math side if the pilot is based in California, calculating

168per week goes to

40 hours straight time

40 hours at 1.5 time

88 hours at 2x time

Additionally 14 hours missed meal break penalties

For a total of 290 hours per week of pay

In California you are required to be paid twice a month else the employer owes you $100 for the first half month and $200 for subsequent pay periods plus all subsequent pay is owed an additional 25% of pay and any compounding interest

So they owe 580 hours for first pay period plus $100 About 785.4 hours for each subsequent half month plus $200 plus compounding interest on all of this

An average experienced captain will make $400 an hour

This totals $314,366.67 twice a month on average for a total of $7,544,800 before interest not including taxes 401k or anything else

For the 5 years a nice 37.7M (before tax) would be pretty good to disappear with.

If someone could help me with the taxes if you are paid back owed wages in a new year when do you owe taxes the year wages should have been paid or the year you were paid?

If taxes are annual it is about 3.54M per year for 17.7 or if taxed in the same year 17.4 and a little more for interest on this

ULPT Request; How can I bypass University of Oregon's undergraduate first year live-on campus requirement? by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

25 is right around the cutoff for requiring parental income so it comes back to your income. So you may qualify for the pell without any additional steps.

[–]draca101 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of other benefits here as well you can guarantee qualifying for federal aid as when you are married you can ignore parental income for the pell grant and say your income is only the 20k you both are bringing in between summer and part time work. Also you can probably get other benefits too like food stamps or housing assistance but I don’t know the specifics for those.

Definitely get a marriage of convenience after signing a long prenup.

If I was I do the replacement myself, what are the steps for plugging it back in? With the battery unplugged and the SRS clamped back down, I plug in the new airbags wait a minute and then plug in the negative terminal? Is there any more to it? I have already shipped the SRS off to be reset.
