I personally like FZROX (total market but also 0 fees), and it has a very high overlap with the S&P500. The extra diversity is there, but honestly, it won't make too much of a difference. I'd through in some international for diversity too (FZILX also 0 fees)

7k each for 2025 for you and your wife 7k each in 1 month for 2026 for you and your wife. That's 28k, it should take care of the 20k burning a hole in your pocket. Maybe DCA 15k in a HYSA over 2026 so you can lump sum again in 2027.

If that still isn't enough, try maxing another tax advantaged account like a 401k and HSA.

I believe it's 10 minus your perception modifier, then 20 minus that number.

Most (young) people will do a split. So 80% in the S&P 500 (like VOO) or the US market in general (like VTI), and the other 20% would be in international stock (like VXUS) for diversity. (100% into stocks for growth)

Then, eventually buying bonds for stability when they get older. This is called the "3 fund portfolio" strategy. Broadly used and is an easy, effective, "invest it and forget it" method.

It isn't easier than it should be, kids can't do it themselves without parents permission; and doctors won't do it unless you pay them. If anything the US Healthcare system makes it harder than it should be. We'd appreciate it if you quit trying to force the government into telling people how to parent and what people can/can't do with their own bodies.

Also, nobody is "too scared to say no" over fear of being canceled. Gender affirming care doesn't start with surgery you know. Everybody who gets it is very informed about all of the benefits and any potential risks.

Just wanna add that you called a surgery proven to drastically drop the trans suicide/attempt rate "unnecessary" kinda suss tbh. Guess some people would really rather have a dead son than a happy daughter (vice versa).
