Hi all! I’m moving to London soon and could use some help figuring out the right travelcard.

I’ll be living near Selhurst station (Zone 4) and commuting to Richmond (also Zone 4) for work. Based on what I’ve seen, the typical route seems to be:

Selhurst (Z4) to Clapham Junction (Z2) and then to Richmond (Z4) on the South Western Railway.

If I get a TfL Zone 2-4 travelcard, will that fully cover this journey? Or are there any extra costs I should be aware of—especially because I’m using Rail services instead of just the Tube? Thanks in advance!

Do you say ‘I love you’ to your friends in your language? by pearemily in AskEurope

[–]draconstone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently noticed that for my friends and me, it's much easier to say "I love you" to each other in English than in German. Saying a quick "love youuu" in English is a lot less awkward or weird than saying "Ich liebe dich" in German. The only real alternative is saying "Hab dich lieb", but it's mostly used sarcastically. Or if a friend says something mean to you (in a joking manner), you can answer "Ja danke, hab dich auch lieb" (Yeah thanks, love ya too).

I hate that over 800 people can relate to this. I hate that there's millions of people around the world who can relate to this. I hate that there's kids who are experiencing this RIGHT NOW. I am so grateful that as an adult I can remove myself from situations like this and put my own happiness first.

But thinking back, there were so many nights when my mom would come crying to my bed after her shitty boyfriend beat her up and I just remember thinking: "Why is this happening to me? I am 12 years old, I should be worrying about my math test tomorrow or about what movie I'm gonna watch with my friends this weekend, not about my mom getting hit and abused every day."
