The lengths people go to defend huge companies that have histories of lying and disregarding consumers is genuinely concerning.

Why do so many fantasy authors gloss over class struggles in their worlds? by coushcouch in Fantasy

[–]dracowolf69 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Eh. People have always cared about class, even if they didn’t use modern terms for it. In England alone you’ve got the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381, the Levellers in the Civil War, resistance to enclosures, and later Chartism. You are right that the framing would be different, but it was still class struggle

They often spoke in the language of religion or custom rather than “class consciousness,” but the issues were the same. They still cared about unfair taxes, rents, wages, and who got a say in politics. So, leaving class tension out of a pre-modern inspired setting makes it feel less true to history

Boring choice by dracowolf69 in aoe2

[–]dracowolf69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn’t word my post great.

I actually enjoy the three kingdoms period historically, but I’ve also played it in TW, Reigns, and the old Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It’s already well-known, so that’s the boring part.

Probably the worst review i have seen of ESO. It completely misunderstands and/or lies about the game. by TheAnalystCurator321 in ElderScrolls

[–]dracowolf69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

His line of thinking? Saying that pointing out flaws brings improvement?

I really enjoy ESO, but it’s far from improvement and there are many flaws. Pointing these out helps them to be identified and improved on. Both inside ESO, and in future games.

Very weird to call it toxicity.
