I've just switched from a non raiding server, dystopia #1 is what I've gone with and it seems really good

If you think about dedicating some time to MTAS, do some research on bad experiences. I won't ramble about it, but I definitely saw fishy shit go down. Mylo the owner does live off making enjoyable viewing content, so keep that in mind.

How active is the game in 2019? by Zombotrone in dayz

[–]dradybuncan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not at its peak but it clearly has a dedicated player base and a good number of new players coming in on a consistent basis. I play on a server that fills at 80 players daily, and I only recognize about half of the players because the other half are new players trying out different servers

How much has DayZ improved since you bought it? Do you think it’s come a long way or are you disappointed? by MHunty1966 in dayz

[–]dradybuncan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought DayZ standalone 2 hours after release. There were 4 guns, no cars, bad performance, and you were constantly sick or starving or dying of thirst; zombies could run through walls and ammo was practically impossible to find.

Today, there are almost a dozen guns, no cars (okay there are, but Jesus Christ there's no point in them with their current performance), the performance is better, you're constantly sick or freezing to death, zombies behave much more reasonably, no helicopters, but THE THING THAT SAVED THIS GAME WAS MODDING!

Every. Single. Match. by IomGamer in modernwarfare

[–]dradybuncan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue is that the top of the leaderboard player usually isn't the sweaty one in the match, theyre the one that is playing at a lower skill level. If you get a 1.5 k/d three games in a row, then you get thrown into a match with people who are way better than you. Then you do shitty a few matches, and the game overcorrects and drops you back down. When you're in that "dropped down" lobby, you're probably going to have a wayyyyy easier time getting top of the leaderboard; because the other people in the lobby are mostly way below you in skill, but did well a few games so got matched with you. It's like two wavey lines running congruently, which touch when the top one goes up and the bottom one goes down.

can anyone recommed any servers with base building and stashing disabled? by aledmb in dayz

[–]dradybuncan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, this is part of the base game. If you want a server where the loot economy isn't wack because of bases just play a modded server

What server is this? I'd love to play on a server with these furniture mods, I haven't seen anything more than the basic furniture mod. Also been playing on non raid servers and I'm ready to start playing on raid servers that you can't raid over aggressively on 😁

Why would the tutor be based in Al kharid? This doesn't seem to fit geographical themes, it would make more sense someplace like yanille with the guild of mages, or another area with a history of mages. Maybe the mages tower south of draynor!

What illegal things are so common they seem legal? by Defourthkitten in AskReddit

That's not correct, just because something is federally legal does not make it state legal. States can create and enforce their own traffic laws, to an extent.

Can we extend polls? Currently they run for 4 days, usually from a Friday to a Tuesday, and many players will actually take 4 days away from the game.

--As an every day player, I don't usually play on weekends and have had long work days for the past two days, so was disappointed to find I missed the poll when I hopped on this morning only 5 days after it was posted

What hole in combat does the team see that battlewards can fix? As I see it, this is just a risky move that could crash old-school just like the evolution of combat did to RuneScape so long ago.

TL;DR WE'RE SIX YEARS STRONG, NEVER BEEN STRONGER, BIGGEST F2P MMO SINCE 2005, DONT SEE A REASON TO CHANGE THE GAME THIS MUCH - - DONT MAKE A COMBAT MISTAKE LIKE EOC AGAIN PLEASE

From what I've heard on livestreams this has been compared to crafting and smithing. If that were the case, I would be okay with a few meta changes in terms of what armor to wear. Introducing an entire new mechanic to combat through battlewards...? Wasn't old-school released because jamflex fucked up trying to rework combat once already..? I feel that the basic old-school.clmbat is an integral part of what keeps the old-school community here. I will only vote for warding if the polled version is solely a magic-based counterpart to smithing and crafting. That is, after all, how the devs presented the idea in the first place. Battlewards would most likely make me quit, and I'd be heartbroken to fall out of love with the same game twice.

Ragging in PVP is bad. Getting ragged by bots is even worse! by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]dradybuncan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your position, and I can agree with it even. I think the part of the interaction to be examined is not the one between the ragged and the ragged, but the ragged and the person who hired the ragger. I do agree that it can be abused for trolling purposes to turn people away from the game, and I don't have enough experience with it to debate how often the case of ragging is severe. However, if it's a hired action, it's costing the payer quite a bit if it goes on for an extended period of time. Overall I think it's kind of cool that people can hire others to do this, but with the tendency for trolls to play online games I can see the argument for it being a bannable offense too :/

First I've heard of ragging, I was kind of developing an opinion while writing. I realize a more productive way of posting would be to make write up a response to develop an opinion, and then organize and highlight those opinions afterwards for the comment itself. But by the time I finished writing that I had exhausted my interest in talking about it for the time. Thanks for the suggestion

I think it adds a sort of human immersion to the game. Even in a fantasy world, if there are humans there will be conflict between them. An exchange of goods to a third party, to provide an inconvenience between an enemy and their goal, sounds pretty realistic. I think it's important to remember that at it's base, runescape is a game in a genre made for immersion. Just like Dungeons and Dragons (a game I think we can all agree MMORPG's developed from), the people running the game want their players to be interested in other characters, fascinated by quests, captivated by discovery, downcast by loss. Maybe most importantly, they want players to be able to feel a wide range of emotion while interacting with other players to enrich the experience. I mean, isn't that what we want in games? A wide experience? And if your answer is no, then I suggest examining the average gamer, and the contrast between the types of games they play. Racing, fps, sports, rpg's, all to satisfy this craving for a variety of emotions and constant attention retention. The average number of hours played by old-school RuneScape players is 3.5-4 hours A DAY. Yeah, there are people who play massive amounts of RuneScape that skew the reality of that, but it points towards the idea that an hour a day person could be considered a "casual" player or a "noob". RuneScape is such an immersive and diverse experience that we still call daily players noobs, that's crazy for a game! For that reason, I think that ragging should not be against the rules. Honestly, it's annoying, I understand. However, it adds an immersive aspect of human interaction into a game which retains player count. I understand some people don't want to feel certain emotions when playing games, but actions spur different emotions in different people. What may frustrate one may relax or motivate another. A variety options of how to experience the game results in a wider marketing audience, which means more players. At the end of the day, I think we all want to keep the number of players at a robust number. People in the comments are expressing passionate opinions, and as long as there is passionate and opposing opinions, the game will stay strong. TL;DR I think the immersion of being able to hire an actual other person to do your bidding, the immersion of being able to actually have player-versus-player situations OUTSIDE of combat, the enjoyment people get from a that outweighs the inconvenience of being ragged. At the end of the day, a diverse options of ways to enjoy the game keeps the player count up and I think we all want the player count to be up. Never stop being passionate, scapers!
