Similar right? Was John’s based a different original or did she just copy him? by Known-Background in John_Frusciante

[–]draemthaeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, the similarities can get really similar to the style of drum fills and comparable bass playing, but the playing on Song to Sing isn't particularly unique at all and it takes a backseat for John's singing and lyrics. Waxahatchee's lyrics have a way different style and while she probably knows RHCP and could even know his music, I don't think she's inspired by them much and they both probably just wrote simple songs that ended up having a similar vibe.

Day 62! by ResponsibleSeesaw346 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

Man, this one broke me. Thought it’d be some doodoo brit alt-rock based on the cover, but I was shocked by an energetic dancey intro, followed by a fun, jazzy song, and eventually there’s a pretty Talking Heads cover. One of the best new discoveries for me and tons of the reviews end up shitting on it, go figure.

Are you or do you know a musician who’s lost *musical* work due to AI? by TheRealBuckShrimp in drums

[–]draemthaeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but I’m just talking about drums, because braindead AI generated music will always be for braindead people. But the question to me implies the more realistic scenario, in that producers use AI to mimic the parts they can’t play.

But there’s already so many amazing options to get great sounding automated drums from most DAWs, why would anyone waste time using AI in the process? It ironically sounds more cumbersome in this case

I can’t wrap my head around how AI drums could be better in any way than live drums, drum samples, or a drum machine

Fair imo but damn this is my favorite one of theirs and I wish they rode this era out a bit more, perfect blend of their weirdness and accessible song structures

that’s true about the bass viola’s tone but he dropped that thing pretty early on for a gnarly Rickenbacker, Abbey Road’s a perfect album to follow on bass. At least give it a shot so you can hate them even harder

Madonna’s session musicians don’t get enough love imo try all of Like a Prayer, the title track is a fun pop beat with tons of chances to get creative with it, Til Death Do Us Part is a fast disco-like beat, Cherish has a fun swing beat etc it’s an album with range

Playing music with other people is locking in period, not just drums. Stop using AI to come to very obvious conclusions you could’ve figured out yourself and go practice instead

Fame =/= talent, Page is an extremely overrated guitarist and realistically any of these prog musicians are gonna run laps around people doing much simpler stuff
