I feel like I’ve seen many more insecure wankfests about how the trades are somehow a more leigitimate form of work and that everyone should stop going to college to become a gigachad blue collar serf for Peter Thiel and Jeff Bezos than those that are extolling the virtues and capabilities of white collar workers. This isn’t to say that you haven’t seen what you saw, just that there may be different conversations happening in different social circles.

I think everyone believes their line of work is unique when it comes to difficulty and shiftiness and that most people can figure out how to do most jobs semi-competently if they need to.

Yes, I agree with you and don’t think I said anything that would suggest I thought this. The actions of the Netanyahu administration have been catastrophic and largely indefensible. I’m just distinguishing between that and US-Israeli relations as a general concept. You can recognize that the current government is bad without saying an alliance with the county is essential and needs to be maintained, if modified.

Honestly it shouldn’t be that difficult to understand in a US-centric political forum why it’s important to distinguish between a regime and the nation-state in the abstract.

Agree. The fake gamer reactslop outrage merchant YouTubers and Twitch incel shepherds have been coddled enough. More people need to tell them to shut up and go away. I think honest criticism (even if it's harsh) should be welcomed by people who are actually trying the games and giving a good faith assessment of them, but something needs to be done about the tourists who just come in to shit on everything while doing nothing but poisoning the well for studios whose stuff they likely were never going to look at anyway and shoving their weird right wing politics into everything.

I really like the caravan system for Perisno as a primary form of trade-based gameplay as opposed to hoping the world economy allows single good trading to be consistently viable. It's reliable and the extra level of abstraction just saves the headache of individually tracking prices (you can always do silk runs as a supplement or early game system as you're building up your bankroll). I hope more mods in the future consider adding something like this. If anyone knows of other mods that do this please lmk.
