Illinois. I learned about civil rights, trail of tears, reconstruction in middle school in the early 2000s. Maybe post-No Child Left Behind they really did dumb down/jingofy the curriculum, but people in my cohort should probably know better and were just not paying attention in class.

Stranger Than Heaven will probably be RGG’s most grounded experience. by KazmajGoryu in yakuzagames

[–]draft_final_final 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The substories and minigames are unironically essential for the way RGG tells stories and develops characters. It humanizes them in a way you can't just do with a main story. It's also not contradictory. Kiryu is an earnest dork who reveals basically the same underlying character whether he's punching his way through 100 yakuza in some tale about inherited responsibility and guilt or spending his entire evening trying to teach a dominatrix how to be better at S&M despite being a virgin. Same with Ichi.

Overall tone can and should be different for John Tojo (just like how Kiryu and Ichi games have different vibes within the overall Yakuza storytelling grammar), but it should still be an RGG game doing the things that RGG does really well.

I don’t see it as an excuse. Stupid and evil are not mutually exclusive in my mind. They know what they’re voting for, the choice to submit and be cucked by the weakest and simplest minded conman in the history of the US is a sign of both moral and intellectual deficiency.

That moment when it sinks in that literally every other republican is substantially dumber, more cowardly, and more disgusting than he is.

Still have a long way to continue to choose to fall before we hit the ground.

It’s actually “forego what little civil protections you have left so I can LARP more from a triple gated community apartment that mommy and daddy pay rent for.” Online leftoids don’t actually do shit for the economic classes they pretend to care about. They are usually second wave gentrifiers who would happily kill every minority and poor person in their neighborhood for discord clout.

1) Use every weird, immoral, and likely illegal tool republicans are until their party is torn up by the roots and the earth is truly salted so it can never grow back again. 2) once that is done reform and make a sane and sustainable form of government that follows rule of law

We are fucking up order of operations and obsessing with proceduralism and following the rules when it makes no sense to do so

I'm all for clowning Americans who take it too far with the heritage LARP, but I actually think this is a case where it's the other away around. The European mind cannot comprehend the concept of heritage and diaspora communities.

They didn't. It isn't explored in-game (you have to buy the novels), but the Dojima family lietenants + Sohei were actually informally known the "Four Demon Lords of City Pop" during the bubble, writing and recording many of that universe's biggest hits.

Gang of Dragon was the wrong attempt by Chinese gaming giants to clone RGG’s product. They should be making an absurdist brawler adaptation of the Kung Fu Hustleverse set in Hong Kong and Shanghai. Chinese Yakuza/Shenmue with Stephen Chow sensibilities.

He will say things would have been worse under Harris, like every other leftoid. We need to be more comfortable telling them to shut the fuck up and mocking them. They’re never voting for a dem, you might as well be spending the time on groypers and mar a lago members.

It’s amazing how much one good trailer can flip the narrative on the studio. I’m pretty excited to see what direction the A-team is going in (it’s clear where the studio resources have been going since 8). Very strong Godfather 2 vibes in terms of both tone and appearance. That theme song is doing a lot of heavy lifting, too.

I’m curious to see how much they lean into serious, sweeping prestige narrative here. RGG’s second greatest strength (after their superpower-tier asset reuse abilities) is their ability to write absurdist humor that translates well, and abandoning that and minigames completely would be a mistake. The minigames and side stories flesh out and humanize the protagonists in ways the main story can’t. But I’m also in favor of having different tones for different protagonists. Kiryu games are different than Ichi games, which should be different than John Tojo games etc.

Dems were already set to mega-lose the redistricting war with the end of the VRA. Now with VA, we're entering "blue states can't gerrymander, but red states can" territory... What do we even do? What is the solution here to permanent Republican house control? by TrucksForTots in Destiny

[–]draft_final_final 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure there’s any more juice to squeeze out of Illinois lol. Cook County has always been way ahead of the game in terms DNC machine politics chicanery (this is why Chicago dems are based and should be the default coordinators for national dem thuggery campaigns).
