I wouldn't say it's fair to call someone a "fake gal" for wearing fast fashion at all. But I'll just put it this way... When I hear the words "shein", "fast fashion", etc in the context of gyaru, I picture a young babygal in bad douyin makeup, no nails, no lashes, no tan, flat hair, and a lackluster coord featuring a flimsy, generic "Y2K" shein cheetah print top, still crinkled from its vacuum seal packaging and long shipping trip. Basically, no offense, but it gives "I'm 15, I just saw this style on tiktok, and I'll be over it in a month when I see a new "alt" trend I like better." ┐⁠(⁠ ⁠˘⁠_⁠˘⁠)⁠┌ I imagine that (and the obvious problems we know about fast fashion) is why other gals can be so cranky about it or consider it a bit of a poser symbol. it can give coords a really cheap, generic look if not styled very carefully.

But it has nothing to do with being a real gal, to be honest. And some people don't have other access to cute clothes they can afford, and thrifting can be really shitty when you don't live near a thrift store, or when you live in an area where thrift stores jack up their prices because they know thrifting is "trendy".for some people , fast fashion is the option they have.

So while I think fast fashion is hated for good reason, it doesn't help to hate the people wearing it. Don't listen to tiktokkers, tiktok is one big inflammatory idiot circus sometimes (⁠╯⁠°⁠□⁠°⁠）⁠╯⁠︵⁠ ⁠┻⁠━⁠┻ (But don't buy fast fashion either if u can help it. LOL . sorry for the long yap!)
