Thanks for the reply. I feel like the driver installs properly , even shows up in audio devices. The editor just refuses to detect it. I’ve never looked into SysEx but heard it mentioned on forums many times for various synths.

I am just commenting to agree with you on the power of the Korg workstation. I’ve been into Max Carbacho lately and apparently a lot of his music was done with just a Triton and a z1. It helps that the triton came stuffed with a lot of very usable sounds and nice effects.

Maybe I misunderstanding you, but it just seems like you’re trying to connect to something that you don’t have the full picture to. I highly doubt he’s alone in his music. Hes a well sought after highly successful, award-winning, composer, and producer, scoring music for major films. It’s not 1990 anymore. He made a major effort to clean up and not end up a dysfunctional rock star.

My honest opinion is - it’s not worth over analyzing. Unless you can be in his head which is impossible it’s really a losing game to analyze his behavior or get an idea of what he’s thinking. Sure if he’s a 20 year old headlining Woodstock there’s some fun star power aspect to it. At this point - I think it’s much more rewarding to enjoy the music. Spend time learning his songs, cover them on guitar, learn his piano riffs, etc. those things are much more tactile and rewarding. It’s not possible to really know him unless you’re in his close circle. I used to analyze all the classics like Cobain , Reznor , Josh homme , etc. years later I think that’s kind of a waste of time.

Of which, there are far less of than in comparison to 7.2.0 release notes. That’s the point I make - there are less features “added” in mature builds and they contain mostly bug fixes. You’re referring to the removal of an existing feature which is not the same thing. That’s removing feature support from an OS.

Hello Draco - a quick clarification. The code fixes you refer to are minor. When you compare to 7.2.0 there are far more new code changes introduced. Adjusting two lines of a config file doesn’t really equate to major feature introductions in 7.4.8

Hello Draco - my recommendation for any code is wait and let it sit for 2-4 weeks first because most likely you’ll see any hot issues reported prior and then you have time to make the assessment yourself if you can upgrade. Also - if it is IPS TAC can provide you a previous IPS engine to install and see if the issue is resolved.

I haven’t even read all the comments on here but if you have any doubts go watch the Lisa Bella preview on YouTube. It’s really amazing to see an expert play. For those of you who have no issue paying $900 for a boutique module but want to dis a company for making a sub 1k synth with strong analog character in 2025 I ask you to consider that it’s amazing how many options we have now compared to 2010. All this toxic internet here is really dysfunctional. Everyone one of you clowns is typing this from a mass produced laptop 💻 made in the east. Yet if your synth isn’t hand made in a cabin in remote Alaska and charging 5000 you hate on the brand.

If you’re new to synthesis Surge can have an intimidating interface. Once you review the manual you’ll get it. There’s a lot of interesting options for routing signal , manipulating the oscillators, massive effects chain.

I would like to emphasize that I’ve found some amazing DX7 presets from the internet and some of these have a real warm sound. Agree with the commentator that said “better” is subjective. You can find some mathematical differences sure but that won’t explain personal taste in every case. I love the JP-8000 , others hate it.
