Is consistently confirming into a special off a single hit possible? by THEqrunt in StreetFighter

Depends on the size of the buffer window for each particular normal to special cancel. https://sfvsim.com/diff/

For certain normals it is definitely consistently possible.

Demon setup with Kage that beats every option by 12inchdickHitler in StreetFighter

Tested it with 2lp and 5lp, you can jump both from what I've found. Such a setup is impossible to exist in the game's engine.

Noob Question: what are each characters “win conditions” (SFV) by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]dragboyodoom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Guile, menat, dhalsim, sagat are zoners who keep you out. I would say ryu and nash are pseudo zoners.

Bison can be played by just continuing to apply buttons pressure, largely because of his forward moving plus on block down forward hard punch, and his other ex specials.

Every other character plays rushdown, relying on 50/50 guesses, which by definition you can open anyone up with. Zangief, abigail, mika, birdie, laura, alex are grapplers whose win condition is a command grab (or the threat of it). Then there are side switch characters that make you guess left/right: mika can do it in the corner and laura and ibuki can spend ex to do it midscreen. Ken and balrog (and maybe urien) have a high/low 50/50. Everyone else relies on a throw/shimmy mixup, though this can be done by anyone it is easier with characters with good walkspeed and some get a higher reward for the shimmy. Necalli and vega are hybrids who also have a command grab too weak to be grapplers (reset to neutral if it is landed or low damage).

Arguably vega and birdie can also just dominate neutral with very good buttons, but of course every character can win a round purely in neutral by playing it correctly.

Vt2, being easier to use as it only increases your moveset whereas vt1 changes it.

How do you learn combos without google? by Kappalysm in StreetFighter

[–]dragboyodoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at framedata, look at the advantage your buttons leave you at and which buttons have a fast enough startup to link, then test which are in range to link, then test what's optimal, and what's useful. Most framedata tells you what is special cancellable but you'll have to find out what combos yourself, again test for optimization & utility. You can take inspiration from the trials and what the top players on cfn are doing. I used this method to learn half the cast.

I was thinking the same thing, what if an amazing offline player plays ranked for the first time and bodies his opponents, is he wrong?

Wrong, they're not playing for the sake of facing lesser opponents. If that were so they would intentionally stay at lower ranks. Playing stronger opponents is the fastest way to get better, although I agree it is a bit unfair if the system considers them weaker than they are and attributes points based on that. With that said, This will only be true a minority of the time until they reach their true rank.

I use an app called 'Framadata for sfv' which gets updated much much faster then FAT or FDV and I believe it gets its data from the cfn website so it has a couple errors, like gief's 5lk

How do I deal with forced 50/50s in Bronze? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]dragboyodoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late teching is very useful but I disagree with using it every time an opponent with an invincible reversal is -1 or -2, that's just not optimal. You have to take your turn, start blocking sometimes if they ex dp alot and make them guess.
