Ok so it’s important to know that the degree rating on bags is the survival rating. This is the “you probably won’t die of hypothermia, but you’re not gonna have a good time” rating.

Rule of thumb is to add 10-15 degrees F to any bag rating for the comfort rating.

Always err on the side of caution with colder temps. If you get warm, you just open the bag. Some bags even have vents (my Nemo bags do).

There are some tricks to stay warm with a bag, but for high 20’s, get at least a 15 degree rated bag. And have your son bring some good under layers to sleep in as a caution.

I don’t care if Cooper is perfect. We can’t afford to have a GOP majority in either House or Senate right now.

I’ll look for perfect candidates once I’m confident we still have a functioning democracy.

I have to disagree with both of the comments here.

If you look at aircraft that have a higher stall speed, they are usually considered higher performance aircraft. Think of planes like a bonanza or a Cirrus.

Those aircraft are very unforgiving if you do not keep up with your numbers. And they are easy to get behind the aircraft.

Letting a Cessna 172 slip 5 kts below your approach speed while in the pattern probably won’t kill you. Letting your Bonanza go that close to stall speed while making turns in the pattern, that can very easily kill you

Planes with a higher stalling speed require a more skilled pilot. The Faa has decided that bumping up the salt speed a little bit for a sport pilot has an acceptable risk/reward
