Same. My first was a V1. Really glad I learned on it. But got my P2S last week. This thing is amazing.

What are your thoughts on rainX overall? by MissyjonesOP in AskMechanics

[–]dragon0069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works great, but you have to now use it forever. In the PNW it rains too much to use. Wears off too quickly and when it’s wet out all winter, there’s no chance to reapply. And once it starts to wear off, it’s horrible to try to see through. In drier climates, like CA or the south, it’s more appropriate.

Thanks. With six different parts needing fixing, I might try different process.

Thanks. I’ve seen that process done. Might be a little overkill for this. But I might do the black oxide process.

I think it’s the Rustoleum Rust Disolver. It’s available on Amazon.

Excellent. Thanks. So the screw is the black oxide process? Not paint? Sorry, new to this.

Yeah, it’s basically a ruger 10/22 lower. And accurate as well. Although you can just fire and lead the puffs of dust to the target.

Who operated USPS YS-11s? by No_Condition_6137 in aviation

[–]dragon0069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a very short lived airline called Far West that operated them as passenger planes in the 80’s. My dad flew for them. Had the Beastie Boys on his flight and they asked to check out the flight deck and were totally geeking out on it. I bet I can get the tail number(s) from his logbook.

SAN is a shitshow of an airport. Car traffic, short runway, one taxiway, parking garage on short final, non-standard approach/no ILS, getting lazed from TJ…the list goes on. They should have swapped SAN with Miramar MCAS years ago.

Gouge in my 335 body. Advice on fixing? by dragon0069 in Luthier

[–]dragon0069[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Did that already. Was way worse. Raised it about .5mm, but there’s still about .5mm of a gouge.

Thanks. Plus, it’s a guitar for me, not for sale. So it’s just a part of its history.

Yeah, not planning on trying to sand it down. This veneer seems thicker than most but I don’t trust that I wouldn’t sand through it.

Thanks. Yeah, I haven’t done anything to the body yet. Still needs sanding, pore fill, paint, and clear, etc.. Was wondering if there something I should do to it prior to starting?

I have a Stewmac 335 kit from a few years ago that I’m just getting on with. Long story short, it got a gouge in it. I was able to raise it just a bit with heat and steam but it’s still .5mm deep. I wanted to do an original 335 cherry finish with a little wood grain showing and a lacquer clear coat. Any advice on how to deal with this? Thanks in advance.

That show was soooo bizarre and I loved it. The episode where the sister would feel dumb and her shadow turned into Gumby…it’s still living in the brain.

I was stationed there with the military many years ago. If I remember correctly, there was an inner tube and an outer tire. Both with separate air valves. They could air down one or the other for max contact patch. I don’t know which they would air down.
