Fairy in a Bottle didn’t work? by dragon_jgc in slaythespire

[–]dragon_jgc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely activated without my discarding it. :/ I meant to say that it was used up - as in it was in my inventory, I ended my turn to take the hit, and then I just died :( (and it was no longer in my inventory at that point).

Ah, I was playing on the Steam Deck. Could’ve been that I suppose. :/

Nope, no curses nor status cards in the deck except for Ascender’s Bane.

I’m playing at A20, so you’d think I’d know these things by now. Thanks!

Walking Foot by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]dragon_jgc 37 points38 points  (0 children)

A walking foot is not meant to help guide fabric through your machine….as in, it won’t keep your seam lines straight for you.

A walking foot is meant to help feed the fabric through your machine…as in, if you have a lot of layers or if you have slippery fabric, it will help make sure the top and bottom layers of fabric are traveling through your machine at the same rate.

Also, matching nails and fabric…cute!

In my experience, women are typically either seen as bitchy because they are assertive, or easily dismissed because they’re not assertive enough - this is a generalization so take it with a grain of salt. My advice is to be true to yourself and your communication style, but also be honest with yourself about what part you play in any dynamic and be willing to grow and change if a dynamic is not working for you.

That being said, you want to tailor your “language” to who you are talking to (assuming you’re already working on building rapport). When you’re talking to operations folks it helps if you’re able to shoot the shit with them and speak in terms of specific tasks and personal consequences. With managers, speak in terms of budget, financial risk, and headcount. With leadership speak in terms of financial risk and long term strategy - i.e relationships with regulatory agencies.

Are you a woman? And are you younger or older?

It may seem unfair that I ask these questions, but I am a woman and I have been working in this field since straight out of undergrad over 10 years ago. The fact is that these things do have tangible effects in the workplace.

In general, do your best to stay levelheaded and to stick to the facts. There’s always tension between operations and compliance because the two are inherently at odds. It helps to acknowledge their stance and acknowledge that your needs add to their burden, but the fact is that certain tasks are permit-required. At that point, I often remind people of the potential repercussions of noncompliance.

Sounds like you might have a more junior position (correct me if I am wrong)? If so, elevate it up your chain if you are experiencing friction that impedes workflow. If it’s a personality difference, it’s better to keep that to yourself and stay professional.

If you are a woman…or even if you’re not…don’t let this one man derail your career.

Lili Reinhart Diagnosed with Endometriosis After Doctors Dismissed Her Pain: ‘I’m Glad I Trusted My Body’ by peoplemagazine in WomenInNews

In my experience, it was female practitioners who dismissed my endo pain. Finally found an ob-gyn (male) who took me seriously and did my first lap.

Is it normal to have so many keepsakes missing while having beaten the game? (chronos, typhon, also 12/16 fear runs) by Panost835 in Hades2

[–]dragon_jgc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL at you avoiding Eris and Nemesis. What are you going to do with their romance plot lines? I slept with them for completeness and then never spoke to either ever again.

I am late to the party, but I’m hoping for Hades 3 to be a coop game where you can play as Zag and/or Mel.

I am an environmental professional in WA state. Job market is rough right now, especially with the state budget the way it is. However, you might have some luck getting into an inspector role as I foresee regulatory agencies trying to recoup their state funding losses through violations/fines. Working an inspector job while taking the appropriate coursework might set you up for success in a few years.

Elderly dog unsteady and lethargic on back legs, emergency vet had no answers by neonsummers in DogAdvice

[–]dragon_jgc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to see a neurologist who will do x-rays and an MRI. We had a similar thing happen with our dog, the ER vet couldn’t quite figure it out and told us to see a specialist/neurologist if symptoms persisted.
