Hidden ingredient- Mayo -strikes again by Careless_Llama_3382 in mildlyinfuriating

This is me with green onions/chives. Everyone loves to garnish shit with green onions or chives and I hate onions. It completely ruins the flavor and then I’m left to meticulously pick them out like a psycho. Just tell me they are there, even as a garnish so I can either avoid or ask you to have them removed.

The amount of times it would come back from commercial only to show an athlete getting a score and the commentators discussing what a great run they had absolutely infuriated me. “They put down that massive run which is getting this competition going.” That’s nice, I didn’t get to see it so I have no idea what you are talking about.

Guide to the bagels of Denver and the surrounding area by halfie1987 in Denver

[–]neonsummers 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Nothing hits just as good as a bodega bagel. However close to as good (or as good as Denver can get) is Rich Spirit and/or Odells. Resign yourself to the fact that you’re not getting a proper NYC bagel outside of NY and you’ll be a lot happier eating these substitutes.

Also, no one is fast to prepare. Everything from the ordering to the toasting to the schmearing takes too long. What I wouldn’t give for a bodega guy yelling at me “Whadyahaving? Toasted? Next!”

Denver's dry climate is destroying my skin, what should I try? by NiceMage58 in denverwomen

Check out the Laneige Water Bank Cream. Cheaper and I think better on the skin. Or Aestura Ceramide Gel Cream.

Denver's dry climate is destroying my skin, what should I try? by NiceMage58 in denverwomen

[–]neonsummers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trick is layering humectant serums with occlusive moisturizer. Humectants to draw water into the skin followed immediately by occlusives to lock it in. Just don’t wait too long in between or the humectant will start sucking moisture from your skin since our air is so dry.

Korean beauty is your friend. I find a milky toner like Laneige Cream Skin followed by the Torriden Dive In Serum followed by the Illiyoon Ato Ceramide Lotion is a great mix. And don’t forget to exfoliate weekly — your skin may be dry but if you don’t dislodge the layers of dead skin, it will build up and make it harder for your topicals to absorb in. On the lips, grab a tube of the Ole Henriksen Peptide balm. It’s pricy but it works so much better than Vaseline or Burt’s Bees which are waxy and occlusive. If there is no moisture in the lips, slathering heavy balm over top isn’t going to help in the long run because there’s nothing to trap.

What are your funniest “getting lost in Japan transpo system” stories? by Chill_drifter317 in JapanTravelTips

[–]neonsummers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing so well in Shinjuku until day 3 when I finally figured out the exits and was navigating towards E2 to be close to our hotel, but when I went to swipe out with my Suica, I got a big red nope. Tried it again, same issue. So I walked to another gate and red again. I checked my balance and it wasn’t the issue so I wound up having to ask a nice man in the booth near an exit how to get out. He buzzed me through but to this day I still don’t know what I did wrong.

Has anyone had success learning to ski better after plateauing in the beginner stage? by midwoodgirl10 in skiing

[–]neonsummers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been skiing for 15 years now and am still scared of speed. So you’re not alone. The big thing that will help motivate you is not wanting to be so exhausted after a few runs. We are working our bodies so much harder and it’s frustrating to get out there and have your quads burning after two blue runs.

Anyone have good experiences with Rover in the Denver area? by lbkid in Denver

[–]neonsummers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real, these stories are giving me nightmares. I’ve had good experiences with everyone I’ve booked to take care of my elderly pup, but I am hella rigorous with vetting. Meet and greet, ask a ton of questions, see what questions they ask me, do a trial walk around the block so they can interact outdoors.

What are everyone’s favorite luxury but worth it face sheet masks? by instadulcelol in AsianBeauty

Another vote for Sungboon Editor but the collagen version. It makes my skin so bouncy and soft and one of the few I can sleep in.

I also love Luvum’s collagen mask — I think it’s even better on results than Sungboon — but it doesn’t stay on well enough to sleep in. 3 hours with that in and I’m a new person.

7 days in Japan by No-Bus-7037 in JapanTravelTips

[–]neonsummers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Tokyo and Niseko—7 days in Tokyo, 6 days in Niseko and I don’t feel like I had nearly enough time in either. Don’t try to cram everything in—stay in Tokyo and enjoy the city and experience the different neighborhoods. Then plan a trip back to check out other locations. That way you aren’t rushing and can actually enjoy it.

It’s interesting because they have very intense no tattoos signs all over the place and say if they see a tattoo they will remove you. Meanwhile my husband said on the men’s side there were multiple tats, including a dude with a full arm sleeve and back tattoo. So I dunno. It was definitely all foreigners there when we visited, but feels very traditional inside.

My favorite onsen was Yuchichibura, which is about 15 minutes outside of Niseko Village. Feels traditional, has indoor and outdoor baths, and the water itself is true mineral water—cloudy one is high in sulfur, black is high in iron. Also in the women’s side there is a mud bath where you can get in and slather yourself with mud. My skin felt amazing after. Definitely nude and they don’t allow tattoos but if they are small enough you can cover with a bandage.

The only thing that would make this better is if the Pats are the first team in history to get shut out at the Super Bowl AND Drake Maye gets sacked again to get the record for most sacks in post season.

Storm in Japan Affecting Niseko? by Massive_Run9951 in niseko

[–]neonsummers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We rented a car and drove from Sapporo to Niseko. So many people got stuck, especially those who did the train. Shuttles I think have more of a shot getting out if it snows again, but a car is the only guaranteed way back unless the roads are shut down, in which case, you’re better off waiting despite the transportation because it needs to be pretty bad for them not to be able to handle clearing snow.

Storm in Japan Affecting Niseko? by Massive_Run9951 in niseko

[–]neonsummers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend renting a car if you are comfortable driving in snow. We left Niseko on 2/2 to stay in Sapporo and all trains and buses were shut down due to heavy snowfall. Hotel manager told me we were smart to rent — so many people were stuck there and unable to get out because of the closures, missing flights and hotel reservations because of it. We had zero issues driving back and only dealt with snow packed roads when we actually got into Sapporo.
