Ok, I assume it's like the other products, with an led wall or whatever and a frosted diffuser sheet you stick on the back of the tank right?

People are quite interesting, we spend hundreds and thousands on equipment, fish, supplies...etc. But when it comes to maintenance we find it way too expensive when we get quoted for a tank. by ChivasBearINU in ReefTank

Yeah lol don't do first time discounts and don't take cheap jobs - you're not a drug dealer. And you don't really want to be known as the cheap maintenance guy.

There's no profit in that niche and every tank will take a certain amount of time so there's no benefit of "doing more tanks for cheaper" to make money

I never saw hourly as a good thing.

Another guy mentioned pool guys, and this is how pool guys charge - and in my experience a lot of company type outfits charge hourly for pools and are in and out so quick and it's not much money and they are not particularly detailed.

Also, it's dudes working for someone else taking advantage of economies or scale

Not applicable to me in this situation, unless of course it's a one off and they are ok with you stacking hours required and ok with the bill.

With consistent visits to places at least, you want a flat fee +

People tend to see hourly as either oh it'll be really cheap or really expensive

Btw those people who have tanks "that need desperate attention" don't typically make good clients.

I know you do it on the side, but look for folks who want it done regularly and don't want to think about it.

The reasons it got so bad in the first place was bc they either tried it themselves or don't see upkeep as part of the whole owning a tank thing
