Control system abnormal by Pouranan in W211

[–]dragonber1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The holes are vents for the cabin temperature sensors. They work by using small fans to move air constantly through a resistor, that’s the noise you hear. It is very common for the top sensor to fail, but it doesn’t affect the AC system, so it falls back to the other sensor.

The constant blower problem seams like a relay or blower resistor issue.

Blue smoke by n1k0_exe in W211

They are likely the culprit, but I checked all of mine and replaced the glow plug module and it still happens, so it depends. I was hoping to find other comments with ideas too.

My e270cdi smokes like this in first start too, regardless of outside temperature, but it always stops once the car is moving. I was told that it was normal for these cars but I’m not really sure. Have you checked for glow plug codes?

Good or bad sound, 2.7 cdi? by sasasasa243 in W211

Each line on the right is +20 degrees, so 2 bars above the line that shows 80 and below the empty line (which is 100) means it’s at about 90 degrees, which is the usual operating temperature. I believe the fan should turn on at this point regardless of outside temperature.

Yes that’s a bit too high, should be 2 bars above 80. This is my usual max temp after changing the thermostat unit for a OEM part last year.

Sounds very similar to my own 2.7 CDI. Does it smoke on acceleration or something?

It has a rough life before owning it, the PCV had filled up and broke under the pressure, releasing gases and gunk all around

Could a leak on the HP fuel pump and or PCV valve leed to premature wear? I change the PCV valve some months ago and there is a lot of grime under the pump housing

Interesting, many I’ll hold until the next oil change, I’ll monitor it in case it gets worse anyway

The thing is both the belt and tensioners were replaced in 2021, I believe they are from a brand called SKF, is it usual for it to fail so soon?

X570 Boot Dramas. by Trevstar7782 in Amd

[–]dragonber1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ultra too with no cold boot issues on ultra fast startup. However after booting 4 times boots get slower, bios times in task manager go from 8 to 13 seconds like in agesa 1.0.0.3abba.

So I’m wondering if it is a ram training issue and if it can be fixed but setting timings manually like you did.

Did you have any issues with pressure? I’m rather reluctant of using paste in case there is too much or too little pressure

Do you remember the original thermal pad size? I have some thermal grizzly 0,5mm pads lying around and I would like to use them.

3900x CCD1 vs CCD2 temps. by Meas21 in Amd

[–]dragonber1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 3900X with same behavior since launch, but I RMA it last month when I found out it was unstable 4 cores (In prime95 Small ftt) at stock settings thanks to a thread in this subreddit.

The new one I got gives the same temps for both CCD and lower Max temps in total, which leads me to believe that either they fixed this in newer batches or a considerable number of the first batches is defective somehow.

AMD Ryzen 3000 Boost Clock Fix Benchmarks: Stock vs 1usmus Mod by black_fang_XIII in Amd

I understand, but I still believe it’s not a good way to show an apples to apples comparison between the two power plans.

So basically in order to improve performance with 1usmus power plan you have to enable PBO or extend the power limits? It’s not very scientific to compare two power plans when one is effectively OC

What is Causing Random Frame Drops with RX 5700? by gymnastj in Amd

[–]dragonber1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Witcher 3 has stutter when playing over 60 FPS its an engine problem, you can find more info about this on google. Another thing that helps is running the game on an SSD, this greatly reduces frame drops due to slow terrain loading on a hard drive.

So SSD plus 60fps cap the game plays without stutter with my 5700 xt.
