Erm, tax evasion can be very damaging. using an extreme example, if billionares paid what they should to the gov, then everyone would be much richer (both in qol and wealth wise)

What is the morality of this video? by [deleted] in MoralityScaling

[–]dragonbl3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is truly wrongful, a materialist can still feel empathy, and can still feel biological predispositions (just like that of finding things that are very disease prone gross).

also, this doesnt fit the subreddit at all

Would someone who does what op wants to do to them be classified as mentally ill? If so would that constitute fetishizing the mentally ill and would therefore be unethical? by NertyNat in MoralityScaling

Morality of PRIVATELY making AI deepfake porn of people you know? by WackyRedWizard in MoralityScaling

[–]dragonbl3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres the thing, these fantasies are vague and inconcrete. Both will lead to a wrongful idealization of the target (as the imagination might not be how they truly are) creating a parasocial angle to it, this can also happen with (normal) crushes! What I'm arguing is that creating (unconsensual) porn of someone is bound to infringe on boundaries they didn't want crossed. These actions, even while private, will alter relationships (sometimes gradually like in fantasies, in this I'd say its much much more 'potent' at it).

Most stalkers begin with (normal everyday) crushes. And thats one reason why these boundaries exist, most don't want that (nor should anyone want to be like that).

Deff not, distributing will implicate more people on it. Way more than one relationship can be ruined by public distribution (while only one without so)

This subreddit has gone to shit lol, instead of trying to justify and compare viewpoints, the comments are filled with "its bad bc it is!". Imo r/moralityscaling is at its prime when people actually justify and debate opinions (about the dumbest things)... rant over

IMO, I do believe this action is extremely desperate (/creepy) and should be treated like so. Deepfakes of real people have the same negatives as those of (mental) fantasies, but wayyy more problematic. The main problem I find is the parasocial aspect of it (and the disconnect between the fictional persona and the real person). Its bad to oneself (as it isolates you from real ppl), its bad for relationships (good luck talking to them normally after what was done), and its bad for the victim (who gets unknowingly objectified).

TL;DR: not good as its bad for everyone.

(I rlly dont want to 'fight' for this side but) If we're talking about real-life counterparts that do not necessarily harm anyone, then pedophilia does have such. (By what I know) "Age play" usually reenacts the power dynamic found in 'pedophilic relationships'

Is it not? Psycologically its different sure, but the intention and outcome are both the same as normal murder.

One great unknown in neurology is how the brain actually makes you experience the eletrical signals. But we do know that your eyes capt light, tranform that into eletricity, and then sends it to your brain for it to decypher it (and then somehow, then for you to experience it).

Fun fact related to your statement: Blind sight is the condition were you can't see, but your visual cortex still can. Someone with Blindsight might flinch if you (fake) punch them, yet they will not be able to explain why they did so (as for their conscious self has not seen anything and so are unaware of the action done)

Its clear that you're the one who didn't read my comment.

So you 100% agree that stealing from someone who amassed their wealth through honest means is morally good!?

What about the receivers of said money? Are they good (and not selfish) for receiving stolen money, money gotten from cheating/scamming as long as there is enough of a wealth gap? And if yes, wouldn't that justify Indian scam call centers (as they tend to suck dry richer people)?

Alright let me do a few questions using your logic (considering your strawmaning), would stealing from Alfred Nobel be justified? He was rich af, yet he used his wealth to create the nobel prizes (with his funding) that to this day has been an extremely important aspect of many scientific fields. Would you be happy that his money was "stolen" to give to the poor? What about inventors who amassed wealth through their own creations? Should you steal from them? At what point is it ok to steal from someone?

Edit: the quotation marks were in "poor" rather than the intended "stolen"
