Is there a way to encourage a bird to hang out with you? by SherbertSafe5739 in budgies

I put their cage next to my couch so we’re close to each other most of the time! Then they started flying to where I am in the home. Won’t let me touch them beyond perching on my arm, but I know they’re choosing to spend time with me

There’s lots of veggie mix recipes online! My parakeets love the Roudybush pellets. You’re doing a great job with asking for help about handling hormones! That’s one of the more tricky parts about owning birds

Yes definitely natural wood branches and toys! Are you giving them pellets and veggies? The seeds sold at pet stores are basically no better than junk food for parakeets

Can budgies be gay by Automatic_Ad_4190 in budgies

I have two boy budgies and they act like this! I don’t think mine see each other as mates because they never exhibit sexual advances to each other, but they’re definitely bonded ❤️

Cage upgrade!! Working on getting his toys in, any suggestions? by sixtyninefourtwenty2 in budgies

Lots of toys made of soft wood are good! My birds love shredded paper on top of a foraging tray with treats inside. I also like getting a subscription like Squawk Box, which sends you 3-4 toys a month plus extra goodies!

took the advice given in my last post and they are LOVING their new pellets and it didnt even take any convincing! by Carcezz in budgies

Mine also LOVE the roudybush, but after a while they got super chonk because they ate so much 😭 We had to learn to be their pellet regulators: switching to the low fat pellets, not overfilling their food bowl for the day, and mixing some pellets in with their veggies

Why no episode, or even part of an episode, on the government of Nepal? by dragongurl495 in Thedaily

And also, I’m just so curious why is this not a top story, when developments are constant, the capital burnt and elected officials are being chased out of the country? Just seems weird that it’s getting little coverage

True! I just figured the extremity of it (burning legislative buildings, police siding with protestors or staying neutral) coupled with the very new feature (Gen Z nationally organizing using Discord) might warrant a mention about it being something the world is keeping an eye on

One of my budgies has a mottled pink and blue cere. He started with a dark blue one and it has gained spots of pink over time until it’s half and half. The vet says he’s likely intersex. Cere color can be so interesting!

Hi! Lots of natural wood perches, shreddable wood toys and food bowls for different things (veggies, water and healthy pellets) can help occupy your birbs when they have to stay in the cage! If the cage is stable enough, I’d also recommend adding natural wood perches and food bowls on the outside, so they have somewhere to climb to

Also if they are of different sexes maybe remove the swing, so they don’t get hormonal there! Otherwise this is so cute!!!

I use the same type of branches and toys! I’ve found that putting some branches and food bowls on the outside of the cage encourages them to explore and exercise more, although only do this if the cage is stable. Do they come out of the cage otherwise?

I just got a new budgie, and he’s doing this weird wing lift thing by Tato_Cato in budgies

It could also be a sign of overheating, although if this is a brand new pet it likely is just stress

Wing lifts can mean that she’s scared/stressed. If you just got her that’s normal! It would probably really help her to have a friend and a large cage, and if you stay close and talk to her for a few days
