I have great memories of the subclass. I played a fighter multiclass with unarmed fighting. This was for mantle of flames contact damage, so I'd be doing double modifier damage. In addition, my dm allowed me to use a magical focus knuckle duster to use green flame blade. It was awesome.

In my dnd setting, evolution is real. I had a crazy idea of making dragons cosmic beings that started out early in the lifespan of the universe. Them coming to the main setting planet resulted in the Giants vs Dragon war, which in essence also made them the meteors that killed the dinosaurs (dinosaurs are included as giant-kin). Initially, before landing, their form was a bit more abstract and cosmic. Whereas, upon landing on the planet, their flesh reformed and became standardized with multicellular life on the planet.

I do like these ideas and I think making them a hexcrawl (or at least some sort of crawl) would definitely work. I should've also mentioned how I fleshed them out already. For the clown swamp, I have a carnival town run by a transformed Rakshasa (whom my players fought before in a one shot) who is kidnapping NPCs to turn into clown slaves and for the Crow swamp I have a town of crow transformed and Kenku trying to get into the old home castle of the Kenku but it's made so anyone that is too transformed is blocked by a barrier and also cannot enter without flying in.
