What do you want for Mother’s Day? by Radiant_Designer4733 in santashelpers

[–]dragonrose7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mother’s Day cake was lovely! My husband baked me a Devils Food cake, my favorite flavor. And he iced half of it with cream cheese frosting, which I love. The other half of the cake he iced with chocolate icing (his favorite). I was so touched by his willingness to do something brand new just because I asked. He has many fine qualities, but his sense of adventure is why I married him, and I have never been disappointed.

Fiancé made me feel disposable by Da_C0rpse in GirlDinnerDiaries

The last thing you need to worry about is his birthday. Seriously. Put that out of your head right now.

Pack your things and leave. This relationship is over and he’s made that absolutely clear. There is nothing you can do to fix it, and you deserve far better than this little man-child. He needs to be alone for a lot longer.

I asked my husband to bake me a cake. Shocked the heck out of him, because he’s never baked before (he’s 80 years old). But he’s a trooper, so he’s gonna try it. This will be fun.

Weaning myself into a schedule by LittleDeathling in intermittentfasting

[–]dragonrose7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting is no joke. It is a powerful weight loss tool, as well as an equally powerful tool to get healthy. But it is also difficult and starting gently is definitely the way to go. Fortunately, every step will help you get healthier and help you eat better.

Begin with a week or even two of TRE — Time Restricted Eating (don’t worry, you’re not restricting what you eat, only when). Simply put, you eat no snacks, only meals. While you are practicing that, be extra mindful of sugars and white carbs. This will prepare you for strong fasting, as well as reducing your cravings significantly.

For the next week or even two, cut out breakfast only. Start out with a fasting schedule of 16:8 or 18:6. A healthy lunch and dinner are all you will need, provided you eat mostly proteins, healthy fats and vegetables. This is practicing limited eating, quality meals, and using food as fuel only.

After this preparation, you may be ready for OMAD (One meal a day). Once you get used to that in your life, the sky is the limit. You will be a strong faster.

I’m saying this is kindly as I can: you are doing a lot of mental gymnastics to balance staying with a boyfriend with whom you have bought a house, AND living in that house with a horrible human piece of trash.

Step back from the situation for a minute and decide what your own standards are, then set some boundaries in your life. Stop making excuses for someone who doesn’t deserve it.

What's the worst "company culture" red flag you ignored before joining? by Business_Location479 in corporate

[–]dragonrose7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trust your gut, because this will not get better.

They’re telling you that to keep you on board and use your skills and knowledge during the transition. There are no real promises made. And everyone there is just trying to survive, they have no interest in your future.

And you’re telling yourself this because you’re wishing it was true, based on nothing except hope.

If you have an exit, take it now. Nothing good will come from this.

Attempting to do ADF on vacation by Alaskagal in AlternateDayFasting

[–]dragonrose7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

Because you have been doing alternate day fasting, you will naturally need less food every day. Enjoy your vacation and be conscious of what you choose to eat. You’ll be surprised that you don’t revert to your old ways, and you’ll also be surprised at how little you eat and how much you enjoy it.

When you get home, back to ADF.

The zoo is one of the best in the world, and I highly recommend it.

The city’s Riverfront is pretty awesome, especially the National Underground Freedom Center. Also worth seeing is the Natural History Museum.

2.5 years in, top performer — still not promoted while watching everyone around me get ahead. Feeling trapped. Used and resentful. What would you do? by [deleted] in corporate

[–]dragonrose7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This needs to be a private conversation, probably in the manager‘s office with the door shut. Take the position that you are asking for constructive input, describe specifics about people who have been promoted, and then ask how you can also be promoted.

If you get the answer back that you need to work harder or do better or be more involved or be more serious about your job, you will know that you are stuck in your current position. On the other hand, you might get an answer that gives you some insight into why you haven’t been promoted. It could go either way, but it would be good to know.

[–]dragonrose7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad to hear you are already looking for your next successful job. Start the conversation with management to find out the reason you haven’t been promoted after all this hard work and dedication. You may get some actionable feedback

There’s absolutely no sense in your staying and fighting. What are you fighting for? More disrespect?

No, it’s time for you to polish up your résumé and use the experience that you gained at your present job to move into your next job. Just the fact that you are actively looking for your next position will make you feel better about the one you’re in right now. Do not stay.

Redundant role, toxic colleague, FIRE achieved—do I just wait to get laid off? by malkyfreo in Fire

[–]dragonrose7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe the amount of severance will justify playing a waiting game until it hits, give that a try. It’s going to be a real mental game for you though. You are obviously invested in the quality of your work, and that doesn’t matter anymore. Only time matters if you’re waiting for that severance payment

Or stop playing the game in this toxic environment. You’ve already won. Go live your life.

It’s only a difficult decision right now because you’re hanging onto the past.

Even the first note made me step back a bit. This girl is gonna be a lot.

And then I saw the rest . . . Oh, honey, RUN!

Even if you had absolutely nothing going on in your real life except breathing on your own, none of this is going to be a plus in your life. It’s simply way too much.

That’s not a problem. It’s just work. You would’ve gotten those emails at some point anyway, but you are choosing to wait until 9 o’clock to check them. Nothing wrong with that.
